Does anyone know why I would get a zillion orange, period size eggs on one milkweed plant ( they are larger on other leaves )and not on surrounding milkweeds? This plant also has ladybugs on its leaves and pods. Are these good eggs or bad ones? Please HELP......!!!!
Orange eggs on swamp milkweed plants
They're aphids. If you look real close you'll see those eggs have legs. The ladybugs are eating them. You might want to knock them off with a strong spray from the hose but I wouldn't spray them with chemicals. You'd risk killing the ladybugs and any butterfly larvae that might want to much on the milkweed. I get them here on milkweed plants too. Even on the wild ones that grow out in the field. Some years they're really bad and others years there's not too many.
Thank's Poppysue. I went out this morning and took care of them but I didn't use any chemicals. At least I know to expect them from now on. You were a great help!!
