causes for bud drop

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

can't figure this one out at all, but what are the main causes of bud drop (dry up and fall off) on any plant??

Cripes tiG what a question :) and a good one may I add.

There are inmuerable reasons for bud drop and much depends on the plant and growing conditions. Very often the cause is either a period of heat or cold when fairly unexpected such as a frosty cold snap at the end of a reasonably warm April. Too much or too little light can cause it as well as various diseases and change of gases in the growing environment (such as moving them out of a greenhouse).

What's the plant with the problem?

it's my brugs, and they are in the tomato family. I have one variety that is blooming out of all 200 + plants. Two plants, different light, one in ground one not. I'm not overfeeding them, I might have been at one time, but been so busy that's taken a back seat. Not overwatering and they don't dry out. It's got me beat. I've got this question out to everyone!!! LOL!!
could be the heat, but it's hot everywhere right now. Hoping that it is the heat and it will clear up, but just want all opinions and maybe something will click somewhere. thanks

possibly Botrytis caused by a definite lack of calcium in the soil..add some lime...good news! Elaine

Elaine, that's something no one else has brought up, but! some of these are in Promix. I will take a few and experiment, wonder how long it would take to show results??

I wonder if the cause might be too much or too little water.

I think it is the heat! Some of mine are doing the same thing! Water, water, water and they still droop!

I think it was the heat. Cala kept telling me, but I was afraid I was doing something wrong. I have tons of buds now, and am praying for a long fall!!
