Dave - please put it back!!

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Dave, once again in the midst of controversy you have come to a great compromise. thanks for all you have done to make this site sooooo "user friendly"

Sanks :)

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

Thanks Dave, this is more user friendly, and yes! I have changed my Zone
<<<<<<< See there it is ;-)

Well done M8

Whoa!

Very cool! Click on the state or country next to the city and you get a list of your compatriots.

IMpressed...!

*sniff*

I HATE it. Clicked on the "JP" and found I'm the *sniff* only one here.

Led Zep oldie: "...lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time...."

;)
(Still cool feature though. Wish some of my j-gardener friends spoke English so I could introduce them to DG...)

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Loph, thanks for pointing that out - that is a neat feature.......

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Awww....Loph, don't cry :>( I'll try to speak some Japanese (Watashiwa honto ne baca!) {Does that come close to meaning "I am really stupid"?)
I'll learn...but another day, eh?

私は実際に愚かである

At least, that's what Babelfish said. :-)

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

HAH!...Dave has a Japanese fish? And understands him/her? A man of many languages!

Not sure if you're joshing me or not :) but Babelfish is a cool site that translates different languages quite nicely. It's pretty neat. http://babelfish.altavista.com/

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

τΏ-...dave, I thought you may have a water garden and named all your fish! I can just see the expression on that fish's face, and those lips saying 私は実際に愚かである while blowing bubbles. Sorry!
However, I'm heading to that link next! Thanks!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

It's a neat sight......just doesn't translate the Oriental Languages.

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9a)

OK, as one of the newbies, took a bit of reading to figure out what this thread was all about.

I don't know what the other format was like but this one seems neat and easy to follow. I did learn from this thread that putting the cursor over the name does give me the register date.

Thanks for the GREAT site! As a web mistress, I know how much work a site like this entails and my hat is off to you Dave!

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Howdy FlSuncoast....Welcome (a late one from me, sorry). I've tromped all over your area tho...Sarasota "Beach", St Armands Key; usually up to the north end tho towards Coquina Beach, Anna Maria, etc. (For some reason Bradenton has my birth certificate!)

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Thanks Dave..I like the way you have made it now..with the zone showing..and I also discovered that you could click on the stateprovince and see who was close to you.
You are a genious!

Western, PA(Zone 6a)

OK, I take it back. The state province thing is nice.

Arigatou gozaimasu. Watashi mo baka de gozaimasu! Wakaru ka?

Dave -
Try your Babelfish out on that one. Not only Klingon, but HGTTU too, eh? :)
(And many thanks for a Superb feature!)

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Ahhh, sheesh!!!...
Babelfish won't interpret that! I'm dying to figger out what you just said. Or what you just called me! τΏτ

I know "Arigatou gozaimasu". That means "Thank you" formally. My dad did teach me a little Japanese when I was a child.

gozaimasu formalizes things, if memory serves. Am I right?

Ohio! :)

dave

Tokyo, Japan

Translation: "Sincere thanks. I too am a complete idiot." (Horseshoe said it first!!!!!!! ;)

Dave - you are indeed correct. In everything but the "Ohio", which was intentional I'm sure. Poor Lophophora is always an "Oyasuminasai" when posting to DG... :)

so - in return for the Japanese brush-up: how do you say "Good morning" & "Goodnight" in Klingon???

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

You mean I actually spoke in a different language!!!? So cool!
I think it's great I declared what I said, especially in an unknown-to-me language! It seems so appropriate! Love it!

Tokyo, Japan

Horseshoe!!!

You mean you didn't know???

Sorry. I'll commit Harikiri.... :)

"Baka" is a compound character, from "cow" and "deer", the epitome of dullness in Asian thinking...

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Cool!...a compound character!? What a great train of thought. (I actually didn't know for sure, was taught that expression from my first wife, along with several others. And a lot of them I feel didn't mean "I love you, honey!")

Love the explanation, and origin of the words. More! More! :>)
Thanks!

Loph: Actually, all I know in Klingon is Qapla'! :-)

"...was taught that expression from my first wife, along with several others. And a lot of them I feel didn't mean 'I love you, honey!'..."

Been there. Done that. Know bro exactly where you're coming from..... ;)

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Mercy dave! Know you're gonna get me interested in Klingon!
Okay, I'll bite. Spill it! What is Qapla?
