Hi Crimson, It may be too late to transplant Cleome and Cosmos because of their size by now.

Bluebonnet and Scarlet Flax don't transplant well. Celosia, and balsam should be alright.

I tried to move a malva sylvestris - it died but left behind so many seedlings! It also took me a long time to get out all its long roots (each one of which grew to a new plant) and I'm still getting its progeny all over the place.

The cultivated versions may be less persistent!

Crimson, I'm having the same problem this year. Cosmos are EVERYWHERE! As soon as they bloom, I yank them to save for seed. Same with cleome. You can hardly see anything in my garden for the cosmos. Another thing I did for later in the year was to stake every perennial. It looks rather stupid but at least I'll know what is where when I want to divide and move in the fall.

Not stupid at all vic ☻☺☻........and I certainly know what you mean about the Malva, gerddi......I thought I'd never get that one out this morning. Now you tell me that the root I had to cut is gonna come back up???? Mercy Me...

5{" but if you left root in you'll get another plant. You just have to keep yanking it out until it gets tired and gives up!

I've just got back from a big weeding session and one of the things I weeded was a mallow trying to come up between the paving stones on the path. I have more or less given in, let one or two flower (they are pretty) and then lop it back mercilessly so that it can't send it's seed all over the place - I'm not always successful, cf the mallow between the paving stones :-}
