Raining again :(

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Now I know many of you are in a drought, and I do feel bad for even thinking about whining. But it has rained nearly every day for the past several weeks here - sometimes we get two or three downpours a day. I'm feeling more like I'm gardening in the PNW than the good 'ole South!

And yes, it's good for the plants and my water bill, but I'd really like to get out in the garden and get some things planted! (Not to mention, my early summer tan is fading fast!!!) Then there's the unspeakable/unbearable humidity levels before and after these showers. Grrrrrrr.....

So how's everybody else's weather these days?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

dry dry dry. they keep getting all the rain just barely north of me. it's cloudy now, and I have my fingers crossed, but .....

Western, PA(Zone 6a)

No rain! Hot, VERY windy, even the Gomphrena are wilting today. Must be 95 degrees. Went to see Tom Hanks movie. Good acting, dumb ending. Better not say any more.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

78 degrees here, havent had much rain, must be all going down to vols area.....except when it rains here, it's non stop, from sun up to sun down, moon up to moon down...sounds like you are having some dry spells in between.

sorry.....

Must be right in between us tiG. It rains just south of us. And as tiG said, here it is dry dry dry. Today was 99 with heat indexes in the hundreds. I have 4 hoses running at all times from the creek and the flowers still wilt in the heat and sun. This must be what south Florida is like. If it rained everyday from now until next spring I would not complain. I might be depressed but I would not complain. We are now 60" below normal for 5 years. Wells are drying up right and left around here. Thank God ours is still putting out water. The weather people are saying we will have a wetter than normal autumn and winter but also colder. I hope they are right.

Hot and humid - ugh. I picked my first tomato today - really puny - I think it was cooked.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Lucky, lucky us... last week we finally managed to get in on the scattered showers, after weeks of none. We actually got over an inch of rain! It's been so dry that the rain was only enough that I didn't have to water for a couple of days. It must be dry halfway down to China from my yard. Wish I had Vic's creek....

(Zone 8a)

Yesterday and today we really got gulley washers and have needed them for months! My pond runneth over with plants too!

I checked and my fish didn't drown! LOL

Thank Goodness!

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Haven't had a drop hit the ground here in over 4 weeks and the lows have been in the mid 90's during the day and the 80's at night. Today was 103* and I don't know about the heat index...about 110* I'm guessing.I've had to give my garden every drop it drinks lately....and down the road 20 miles, they got a 2" soaker last weekend! It's rained all around me,but not at my house....:(

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

terry thats how its been here too-when it rains its 1 to 2inches each time
We have puddles and mud everywhere. Then out comes the sun and its hot and humid(i luv this part)and 90!!!

Pioneer, CA

I wish you could share a little of your rain. We rarely have rain after May and I water about every day. Last week it was 111 one day, darn hot! The good thing is, we have very low humididty, a blessing. We all seem to have problems of one kind or another, but we must love it, or we wouldn't continue. Right? I hope the rain lets up for you.

8th week of 90's, only rained twice, here, less than 2". Grass BROWN, plants blooming their heads off, did not water.
Guess I worry about them too much, they don't seem to know it is hot and dry. AC on day and night, only way to sleep, humid!

Spring Hill, FL(Zone 9a)

Too hot and dry here. Might as well have stayed in FL for the summer...at least it's raining there.Watering everyday, lawn burnt (after a spring in which it rained so much we were mowing 3 times a week, now John Deere thinks I don't love him anymore). It is good for ripening the big ole tomatos though.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

It's down right cold here for August. The highs have only been lower to mid 80's, and that's not everyday, but only once in a while. The night time lows are getting into the 40's already. As I type this, it's about 10:40 PM, and the temperature is only 52 degrees. I'm bringing my brugs in at night already. I expect a frost any night at this rate. I'm hoping it doesn't happen, but this year has been so screwed up that nothing will surprise me.

We really haven't had much for rain this summer, other than some showers here and there. I've watered my heart out all summer. Thank goodness we have our own well, but I don't know how long it can keep up either.

I'm about ready to pack it in and hope for a better year next year. But for now, I'm savoring the one or two early tomatoes I'm getting every few days. There's not gonna be any salsa canned for this winter. :(

We were supposed to have rain every day since Monday. It got really dark yesterday and rained for about 2 minutes, the pavement didn't even get wet. It's been in the high 90's and humid. We're supposed to get storms this afternoon and it's supposed to cool down.
