So how we gonna do this - somebody tell a story and the rest vote? Need to get a list of people playing - so we'll know the audience... Hahahaha

OK I hope I'm doing this right.

When we were kids we went on family holidays with practically everyone we knew. My cousins and brothers had decided to take the Mini (car) for a spin on the beach. The Mini because stuck in the sand, so the car occupants decided to come back the following day to retrieve it.

Early the next moring they arrived on the beach to find that the entire car with the exception of the top 3 inches had sunk into the sand and was completely irretrieveable.

Well, I'll go next....

My two great uncles grew up near the "New Forest" Near where Baa lives. They would often go on sundays after Mass, to play there when they were children. One time my Uncle Barry had climbed a tree and was arfaid to come down, all his brothers and sisters were there yelling "jump, jump" and there happened to be a big pile of leaves under the tree which he fianly jumped into. Well the pile was so big because a wild boar was sleeping in it, his jump woke the angry boar, but before it could charge him, my other great uncle came running at the boar and scared him away. To this day we call him "Uncle Oxxy".

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

hmmmmmmmmn.........thinking, thinking...

"eyes"

Eyes when do we let on the answer?

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL I think they are both "fibs" but now that is just my opinion!

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Well I think Baa's is true and BJT's is false. This could get really fun.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Baa's is true. BJT's is fib, but dang sure sounds like an episode in my life!

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

I like to be different, so I'll say that Baa's is a fib and BJ's is true. *grin*

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Baa's is true, BJ is true too

My story is true, the beach was Brean Down in Somerset where the tide can go out for over a mile. If I find a pic I'll post it.

BJT

I'm going to say fib on this one.

Perrysburg, OH(Zone 5a)

My story is true, my Uncle Oxxy did scare off a wild boar, unless he fibbed to me!!!!!

BJT

I said fib because wild boar no longer roam this country (haven't done for a few centuries) he might have woken a pig out to pannage in the Forest though!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Okay 'Shoe or MB, or anyone else.......Spin us your yarns.

Years ago when my hair flapped in the breeze and I toted a backpack and a guitar, I was cutting thru the Everglades. At the time the only road thru there was a two-lane road called Aligator Alley. It was after dark and trying to get a ride was an ordeal, especially since a car would show up only every half hr or so. With just a glint of a moon to light the road ahead of me I started worrying about Everglade snakes, and Gators! Sure enuff, there in the road ahead of me was this 7 ft creature. I'd always heard gators could outrun a man so I walked quietly trying not to waken it. I got close, then chickened out and ran back to a safe distance. Eventually, after having a smoke to calm my nerves as well as help to keep the skeeters away from me, I decided to outfox the gator. I tied my guitar to the very top of my backpack and waded into the water amidst the weeds and frogs and such. I was in nearly up to my thighs and very quietly wading away from the road (and the gator). When I was passed him I slowly waded back to the road, a goods ways past where he lay. When I got back on the road I looked back at him and thought I saw him move, even thought I saw an eyeball open up and shine in that little piece of moonlite. I took off running like a little boy about to get a spanking and didn't let up till I was out of breath!
About an hr or so later I saw headlights coming and thumbed down a ride on a tractor-trailer rig. Jumping up in the front seat me and the driver started shooting the breeze and I asked him if that gator was still in the road back there. He looked quizzical at me and I explained how I waded my way around him out into the swamp and how he woke up right when I got back on the road, how it took me over an hr to get around him, etc. Know what he said? NUTHIN...he was laffing so hard he couldn't speak! He laffed, I just wondered why and thought of jumping out! When he finally got enuff air in his lungs to speak he told me (in between guffaws) that a big storm had recently come thru here and had washed up a log onto the road! That log was my "gator"!
(Eventually I was also able to laff along w/him. We talked and laffed all the way to Miami!)

I don't think I'm swallowing this one, 'Shoe. Shore was a mighty good yarn tho!!!

Hmmmmm now being as it was our Shoe and I have read some pretty crazy stories about him, I don't know if this is a fib or not. I can just picture him doing it though! So I'll guess that this one is a fib.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Here's the clencher.............'Shoe don't smoke, and there ain't any roads cutting across the everglades, you have to have one of those crzy boats they use!!

"eyes"

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

hah!....wrong! There is one road across the glades. And back in them days (daze) I did smoke!...
Sounds like ya'll need to keep guessing to me! ♫♫♫

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

you rascal..........hmmmmmmmmmn!!!!

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

I think it's true! It's not anywhere near as outlandish as his foot attire story. I can see the 'gator story happening!! LOLOL!

'Shoe, how did you get the little musical notes on here?! I've looked and looked on every character map I can find and haven't found them yet! It would be a nice accompaniement to my attempts to sing "Happy Birthday" to the birthday boys and girls! Please, do tell!!

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

takin' a chance and calling it a fib.
with the everglades being full of snakes, gators, and quicksand, the road would definatley have been the safer place to be, even if there was a gator blocking it.
but then again, this is 'shoe were talkin about, lol
jen

Burlington, NC(Zone 7b)

All I know is that he missed the perfect opportunity to make a pair of gator shoes for himself.....

Okay, y'all! Here's how I did it (Eyes, I'll put it here so everyone can see ~ I'll e-you and let you know it's here, too). I opened this thread in a window, found the character map on my computer (under Start-Programs-Accessories-Character map), pulled it up in another small window, the clicked on the smiley face, then just "drag-and-drop"ed it into the text box! Neat! Same for the sun and musical note. I have Windows XP, but I think I remember the character map being on my other computer with Windows 98.

Now, fib or not? *Grin!* Just kidding...it's true. ;)

Okay okay....I give. It was a True Story....I was a silly boy in them days, eh? (If I could ever find that trucker he would verify it, he had to swerve around that log, that's why he believed me!)

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Ok..yesterday I took a cheesemaking class. The instructor was an older lady, she had a "beard". When I went up to stir the pot, there was a chin hair floating on top of the whey. I discreatly removed it.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)
