Snowznick, your seafood frenzy wouldnt be complete without some lobsters.....I hope Poppysue brings some Maine lobster....I spied her a while back talking brugs and poppies with a gaggle of gals..
Hey shoe, nice to see you joined us, have been waiting for your singing...
DG 2nd anniversary pary
seafood??? bring that right on over here, it will go just perfect with my hushpuppies, and pebble dahling, you can't make them without grease splattering all over you! I think I'm going to make the round of newbies, they must be frightened of all us crazies!!! LOL! hey gang, watch out, here I come!
Tig....why does the greese have to splatter all over the place? what a mess...I tried frying a couple of times, and had to clean the entire kitchen, floors and all...I guess I just wasnt meant to fry....I've been debating about getting one of those electrical fyiers, you know the kind you fill with oil, and drop things into it, well.....but I'd be eating too many fried foods, so have abstained up till now.
but those hush puppies do sound good. If ever I should come to the south, I will expect you to make me some, or teach me how anyway....
I don't make them much anymore since dh & I don't need all that grease, but I used to cheat and get a mix, all you do is add water & sometimes a little onion or canned corn, yum!!
ohhhhh....I've never heard of a mix.....I've never seen one, I would buy it, yep yep yep, I think I would.
Oy Vey!!!!
I had a whole 'speal typed out and deleted it. So, I'll just suffice it to say that I'm bringing Rocky Mountain Oysters. 'nuf said. Shoe would appreciate them I think, as they are just a level below chicken feet. But I figured as long as we are trying lots of different things, the meal wouldn't be complete without trying these roasted over a campfire. Ugg! Personally, I think they are disgusting, but I wanted to add a bit of the wild wild west to the crusine (sp?) for posterity's sake.
Yee Haw!
Sorry I had to go sleeping, still have some jetlag.. Where are everybody? : Ouch, my head, did somebody mix the vodka to my coke? :P
Evert - you are much too young to be nursing a hang over, you better just stick to Granny Azalea's Hard Lemonade!!
:D
OOOHHH! With me traveling around so much, and on so many strange computers...I almost MISSED this party!!!
Since I'm here in Virginia right now I brought some Real Smithfield Sugar Cured Ham...now...who can whip up some biscuits? Lizh and ginlyn are right fair hands when it comes to making biscuits. Where are you two?
WOW! This Hard Lemonade has a kick almost as good as "Papa's Recipe"!!
Did I hear that our Horseshoe was going to tell us a good tale...like he did at the TN Round up?
Is that MayE riding that horse!! WOW! I knew she did endurance riding...but she rode a long ways to this party! Bring her a pillow to sit on.
WHEW! I need to rest for a while! Jo
lol JO...I was hoping you'd make it, and thanks for that Virginia ham....I love virginia ham!
I think Shoe was going to make some of his biscuits on the "fire"
Evert, is somone spiking your coke? naaahhhh - i doubt it, these people are too conscious about things like that. we take care of our own here....
MaryE rode her horse all the way out here? i was wonderin what that smell was...i can guess now.
is it time for coffee and dessert yet? I want to try some of that homemade ice cream that coco brought and some of that lemonade pie...
Maybe I just hit my head on my bed on the early hours of morning :} I must go eating now...
You guys are hilarious. I being a recent "newbie" am a little shy and hestitant. But I bake a mean cookie sheet chocolate cake. It is yummy. Wanta try a piece?
Naturegal, just pass it this way, and don't be shy, we're one big happy family here....
Took me a while to find my party hat, but I'm here now. I have the fixins for the makings of mint juleps..mint, powdered sugar and bourbon. any takers?
I'm still looking for Gloria, Roz, and Marie? Anybody seen them? I thought i saw gloria runnin around in a bikini, ladder in tow, mumblin something about seed pods. Bet if we found cala, we'd find gloria.
I'm still looking for that fine young man of mine too...6'4, brown hair and eyes, wash board abs? Anybody seen HIM? Where are the girls? Thats where he'll be, lol
Thank you pebble......I'll just kinda mosey around here and take it all in. It is a little overwhelming, so many people. Sure would like to run across "Shoe". He sounds like quite a character.
MSJen...I'll try one of those mint juleps, maybe it will help me relax. Better not try too much or well........you know.........My tolerance for alcohol is pretty low. I'm not very big and it doesn't take much to make me fuzzy headed.
Sooooo.....I'll just be wandering around here and say "HI" to all I meet......
Quite a party!!
lol MsJen, that's where I thought we'd find your young man.. I'll take another mint julep, had one from kentucky earlier, now I wanna try one from Mississippi.....
I think all the brug people are huddled together whispering about their next hybridizing project, I see some q-tips, and I dont think they were using them to clean out their ears....They're plotting on ways to create a Sang that will withstand the heat of the south...
I see Eric and Kyle and Peter surrounded by the ladies..... and what's with all the ladies wearing a brug flower in their hair? and is a lei made of brugs hanging on kyle's neck - what a sight....
And here comes Monika, with her exotic european brugs....oh no - there seems to be a stampede, all the brug lovers are scrambling to get to her first, there seems to be a fight erupting...elbows shoving, kicking, scratching....oh noooooo....all the cuttings that Monika smuggled in have gone flying, all labels have fallen off...and the poor cuttings are getting stepped on and smashed. I guess it's a toss up as to who will get what...happy brug growing ladies.....let us know what you end up with, and i want some cuttings next year.
tsk tsk tsk, I was at the head of the stampede, and I didnt even get a cutting...all that kicking and scratching was for nothing...and I even broke a nail in the process..
who did I scratch?
Has anyone seen shoe yet? Me and naturegal need to see him...about some biscuits to use with this ham!! Come on naturegal...we'll surely find him telling one of his "tall" tales!! Jo
Somebody say biscuits? Somebody say ham? My my my...
sorry folks, just got in from picking 12# of purple pole beans just for ya'll! I figger I'll pot 'em up w/some side meat, peench of garlic, and some fresh-ground black pepper and serve em up w/a judicious amount of real butter melted all over em! (I'm making my self HONGRY!)
Anyways, like I was gonna say, it seems I tend to burn the biscuits when cooked over an open far so I'll be kind to ya and refrain from that! However, get this! While throwing them biscuits into the river (I was counting the number of skips I could get them to do!) I accidentally hit a 14 pound striper on the noggin! Being a po-lite kinda guy I decided it was my duty to jump in and pull it to shore. He is now cooking wonderfully on a spit stuffed with French Tarragon, dill weed, home-grown onions and garlic (augmented with a "dash" of hot sauce) and being basted with my special "Shoe Marinade de Perfectsheoney"! What a treat to eat!
lol shoe, sounds like a delectable treat.....
I have a hankerin for some of those beans....sound just too good to eat!
Hey Roadrunner..here he is, come on.
Well there you are shoe. Sounds good, especially the fish.
Those biscuits must have been mighty hard to be able to knock out a fish, especially a 14 pounder.
Shoe you are just too much. lol
I love your style of writing.
Having fun at the party?? Oh what the heck, give me nother one of those mint thingies. HeeHee

Pebbles....This has been a lot of fun. You have a delightful imagination. Thanks for startng this thread. GOt a lot of a laughs from it.
Everyone else....You are the greatest. And you have pretty active imaginations as well.
naturegal thank you.
It's fun to daydream like, or would that be cyberdream.
I find it is entertainin to me to visualize all the people, and knowing just a little about them has given me the opportunity to imagine the rest.
We have a great group of people here at Dave's. really a close knit family. sometimes as I am just thinking idly, I wonder how we filled this void before the use of internet? I feel that my life has been so enriched with the people here that have come thru my life. Everyone here in one way or another has affected me. be it by a plant trade to beautify my garden, a kind word here and there, some advice about this and that, some recipes for quick dinners, recipe to make laundry soap of all things, who would have thought that I would have had the courage to embark on such an endevour? well, with Gardenwife from Ohio, Tig from Georgia and Aimee in Texas, I have mastered soap making....And in the meantime amassed a network of friends that are there for a quick a hello or a deep discussion, a laugh or two, a giggle and a sneer...and on occasions a tear or two....
anyway, let's get this party rolling....I want some of Dave's Doner....with a tomatoe sauce (which I prefer over the tzatziki sauce (there must be at least a dozen spellings for that sauce...)
Well hey there naturegal great to see ya here. Pass me a piece of that cake it looks great. Looks like lots of people are showing up . I know one of the people we are missing is TnMom she can sure fix some great corn on the cob on the fire. And Vic we need her broccoli salad. There sure are a bunch of good cooks on DG.
well, then, maybe i made the mint juleps a tad too strong..seems like everyone must be nursing hangovers or sleepin in.
off to find redrose and her strong louzeanne coffee so we can get the party started again.
Good to see you to Mystic. Here's your cake, hope you like it.
.........................................................
Yep, MSJen I could use a strong cup of cofee also. Maybe I can wake up then.
Hey, has anyone seen Morph?
Party Hearty Everyone!!!
I made some chocolate pies and corn bread and here is some new potatoes to cook on top of Shoes pole beans.Gotta have good ole home grown tomatoes too.
Tell me there's a bit of cake left, Naturegal - that sounds tooo good! :D
just got back from a plant raid in FL at arlenes house, I thought while everyone here was partying, no one would miss me, and you could be my alibi???
hey Shoe, wasn't nothing but beginners luck you hitting that fish like that!!! mmmm....smells so good, can't wait fer them beans.
I see that mark is finally at the slide projector, he's got great pics to share of flowers and he's gonna show some bats too!!
Dave, I think the next class might be yours, teaching world leaders how to handle all this many rowdy crazy people~~~
Happy Anniversary everybody, any cake left for me, what a great get together. Hey roadrunner how you doing dosen't sound like there's any grass growing under your feet lately ha ha good for you friend.
Gardenwife...Yep, there is a little cake left. Better hurry though it's giong fast.
Ooooh, I'll take one of those fried peach pies, oh, and some of those beans with taters and oh yes, fresh homegrown tomatoes. The maters you get in the grocery do not taste like tomatoes.
okay, it's storytime!!!! Shoe is out by the fire, and all the kids have the front row seats. It's time to move on down that way, and let's see what's a coming
Wow storytime. Hey shoe where are you? We are waiting! Are you going to do this one on one foot? lol I will take along the stuff to make smores with .Oh bitty please pass me a fried peach pie before they are all gone. MMmmmmmI bet these peaches are from your garden..... Yummy!
I hope Shoe didn't forget his "Story Stick", I didn't get to sign it at the R-Up. Please tell the worm ranch story!! Here, have a hard lemonade, that'll get you all in the mood. I'd rather have some of TiG's famous sweet tea for right now. I wonder if Arlene brought the rest of that yummy Bar-B-Q?
I'll take some more of Tig's sweet tea, and wait for shoe to start in on the stories......
Who brought those peaches? they sure are good...are they really from someone;s garden??who grows them? i would love to grow some peaches
Ok I've got some Pulla ready here, meatballs, karelian pies and lingonberry juice. Brunch anyone?
that lingonberry juice sounds good Evert....Did you make it?
No, my grandma makes it.. also got some of her wild raspberry and strawberry juice with me, want any?
