This year I have a few bare spots and also far to many seeds. I would like to sow some quick blooming seeds in my front beds and also use my extra veggie bed to get rid of a bunch of seeds. I am tired of having so many seeds and right now I do not have the time, energy or money to trade them out. A cutting garden is one thing I would love to have, but realize that needs a bit more planning. LOL I am going to check out my germination database for bloom times, but wondered if anyone would be helpful and tell me what else blooms quickly. I just want to till, level and sow in a full sun bed. I can safely assume I have at least three months left on my growing season, some years more.
Thanks,
Michele
What blooms QUICK??
How about some Zinnias and Marigolds..........I have quite a few seeds left if you want them!!

balsam impatients
I got those seeds too!!! Scads of fushia colored!!

Love-lies-bleeding and Lychnis alba bloomed quite quickly from seed for us.
Notmartha gave my suggestion already! My balsams bloom about 5 weeks after germination. Um, alyssum also blooms in about 4 weeks. So do dwarf marigolds.
Do you have any zonal geraniums growing now? You could pinch off pieces of them and they might root for ya. :) I was going to say impatiens, but then saw you're talking full sun, LOL.
And Coleus rootings too!!

Yeah, up here, just pinch off pieces of coleus, stick them in the ground and keep them watered for a couple of days. They don't even wilt in full sun! A friend gave me 3 sun loving coleus a few weeks ago, and I now have 14.
I sowed some bachelor button seeds and they were in bloom, three weeks from sowing! Great blue flower in time for forth of July arraigment.

Hi Badseed,
I was at a circus with my wee boy recently. A clown poured water on a flowerpot, and flowers jumped up.... I'll ask him what they were for you ;-)

Wintermoor
Thanks a bunch you guys! I did also hit the seed germination database to see what sprouts quick and made a list. I intend to let my kids have some scattering fun. Seems like a good way to keep them happy and a good way for me to deplete the seed trunks. LOL Oh and Wintermoor, please do let me know of the clown's flowers. Sounds like my kind of gardening.
