All our zukes are rotting when they get about 2"-4" long. Can anyone tell me why and what to do to stop this problem? I'm not seeing any insects or insect damage. The plant is HUGE and appears to be in good health. There were lots of blooms but I'm not seeing many new ones now.
Zucchinni problems
EveMae, no sign of bugs inside the fruit? Like a pickleworm?
Also wonder if high heat may have caused improper pollination or something.
Was just reading about angular leaf spot and other various diseases. Any sign of leaf blotches and such? Some of those diseases are passed to the fruit and cause rotting. It shows tho that the fruit may have spots also tho.
Hope someone else can come up with the answer.
I have the same problem as Leaflady this year (first time) - fruits rot back to the stem when they get to a certain length but the rest of the plants look really healthy - no leaf damage and no sign of insects or other pests. Also, lack of blooms. What affects Missouri also seems to affect the Swiss Alps! And the variety is an old Swiss one so is not imported.
Do the flowers get enough pollen when you pollunate them?
I have since been advised to remove the flowers once the fruit starts growing because the rain is affecting the flowers and that is transferring to the fruit. Since I did that - no problems (apart from stuffable marrows instead of courgettes (zucchini!).
