Malva plants

(Zone 5a)

I need to know if Malva plants bloom all summer? Mine seem to be dyeing back, is there something I can do like cut off old stems and if I do will they start new ones?

What type do you have? Malva sylvestris seems to bloom all summer here. Malve moschata will decline after the first flush but after it gets cut back it starts to bloom again.

Poppy I do have the Malva Sylvestris Zebrina but they are going to seeds, so should I cut them back?

Yes, cut them back NOW! It will make a bushier plant. Also, make sure to remove the seedpods BEFORE the are dispersed all over your garden by birds, animals, and the wind. Mine keep "popping up" everywhere!

Oh thank, I will do just that.

Even the pink ones will rebloom if you cut them back to the ground. You will see where the new growth is starting at the bottom, just cut the big stems off.

You all were right it is starting new blooms, I am so glad that I am going to have these lovely blooms around all summer.
