A Bizarre Request.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Hey All!

I found Bump's good picture. See link --> http://davesgarden.com/editgj/showimage.php?iid=9781

Also, no secrets here, Shoe! We go to a place called Wakomata in Ontario, Canada. We drive through all of Michigan including the Upper Pennisula. Then, from there, it's only about another 2 hours (in summer). We've never been there in the winter where they really thrive on snow mobiles! Here's a link to their site that is HIGHLY recommended if your not looking under the cushions of the couch or for fancy hotel style accommodations. We go for the nature, relaxation & shear joy of the owners & familiarty of the lake/camp.

Here's a link to them --> http://www.wakomata.com/

Great! Thanks for the info on the hideaway...looks like a great place to be!
Bump sure is a happy lookin guy in that pic! Hope he continues getting better and better! (Hope the card I sent him isn't what made him ill!)

Morph...Bump looks like a friendly type. Hope he is feeling better. How many cards did he get? Just being curious. My DH calls it nosey.

So let's all be nosey!! I'd like to know too!!

Morph,
That looks like a GREAT place! I have a friend that likes to get to Canada to go fishing. He hasn't found too many nice places like that and it's not a very far drive from northern Wisconsin. Thanks for the link.

Bump looks like a fun guy!

Hi, glad to see his picture; looks like a fellow who has enjoyed life a lot (looks a lot like my allergy doc-same features and smile); I am sorry to hear that he is failing and hope that there are some tools, helpers or techniques that would make gardening easier for him. Sending you and family my best.

Thanks everyone! I spoke with my sister who indicated that the doctors are thinking that a hip replacement will ease his pain. His appointment is scheduled for early October with the orthopedic surgeon. I know he got at least twenty cards when I visited in early July. I just received a birthday card from them that said that are still receiving cards ~ they just got Christina's from Chile :)

I do so appreciate everyone's caring. With his incapacity this summer, I'm hoping your thoughts & warmth will keep him motivated and preoccupied until he is doing better. Joan, he loved the seeds you sent (although I did request no seeds for him!) As you can see from the picture, he's truly an angel ~ he cares for everyone & everything God has shared with us.

I pray for him and my grandmother every night as they have filled me with the important elements of life and an unconditional love I've rarely been given by others :)

For those who may visit Wakomata, I think you'll enjoy it! Bump found it many years ago on a friend's recommendation in the 1950's. It's changed ownership several times and is now again in the hands of caring and wonderful people! Dogs are allowed and Don will take you anywhere you want to go on the lake or otherwise be it summer or winter! Enjoy :) Here's a view from our cabin http://davesgarden.com/editgj/showimage.php?iid=9806 to the lake. We just rent the boat & motors since we don't have a boat of our own.

I'm sorry for including seeds. I didn't remember that I did or that you asked us not to. Sorry! I hope it didn't cause any problems.

I really enjoyed seeing the pic of Bump. I'm passing a virtual hug on to him.

Oh, Joan, no problem on the seeds! He was excited to receive them! I just didn't want to over extend my request was all and your inclusion of them made it an even more special greeting. He pointed your card to me specifically and said, she even sent me seeds! He was just beaming :)

Though he doesn't use the computer, he is just fascinated with the fact that we were able to share his love of gardening with him! It could not have been better timing although I did not know that when I asked y'all about this! Amazing how these things seem to happen, isn't it?

Hope all is well for you and your friend. My prayers are with you!

Wow...that water looks cold~! Beautiful place tho! Sure would like to spend some time there!

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh, Morph, I just saw Bump's photo, and he so much reminds me of my own dear late Grandpa, I just started tearing up. What a sweet-looking man. Next time you see him, please give him a special hug from me.

Your Canada place reminds me a lot of my favorite childhood place, in the Adirondack mountains in NY. Another retreat from the world: they don't have TV, radio, just lakes, mountains, a great place to get away and be with your thoughts, as well as some favorite friends.

And 'Shoe, you're right: water in Canada even in the summer is VERY VERY VERY COLD! Don't jump in!
