Marcia, thank you, too, for sending a b-day greeting card :) His birthday is approaching fast and I'm so exited to talk with him :) He was born & raised in Michigan so I'm sure he'll be excited to see a postmark from neighboring states ~ especially via the U.P.! He used to take us to Canada via the U.P. & I remember the Mackinac and International bridges vividly :)
A Bizarre Request.
Hey, Becky, I saw some of those cards in a store I like in San Antonio, aren't they just adorable? I couldn't decide on one because I wanted most of them. The little children dressed in gardening hats and sitting in swings were the cutest, I think, so quaint looking. Bump will enjoy that, good for you.
Happy Birthday BUMP! May you continue to stay well and be able to work with your plants. It is a special blessing to have the love of gardening and love for God's living things. Congrats on such a sweet granddaughter. I'm sure the rest of your family is just as special.
AGAIN,HAPPY BIRTHDAY FROM ALABAMA!
I just read this thread and if it's not too late I will also send a card. He sounds like a wonderful person to know :o)
Happy Birthday Bump! I am reading this too late to send a card but I hope you have a wonderful birthday. I miss my grandpa's a whole lot and wish they could still be here to share their wisdom and stories.
Lana
All the best BUMP, for your Birthday
and Many Happy Returns.
I hope you'll have time to celebrate, and not just dig around the garden, or is that your way of celebrating??
Have a great day!!!
Wintermoor
(Hamburg)
I'll be delivering this thread in person on July 4th, this week. His b-day is on the 3rd, but easier to celebrate on the holiday since most of us have that as a vacation day :) So, Wintermoor, Bump may actually be digging on his birthday since that's what he loves so much. That is, unless it's just too hot! It's supposed to reach 97 degress fahrenheit today ~ whew. Drip, drip, drip...
I can't wait to share this with him. If I get a chance, I will try to scan his birthday greetings that he receives from DGers so y'all can see, too. I may even print some of your pictures so he can put a face with a name (or three faces in Wintermoor's case ~ LOL). Have to thank you all again for your kindness & generousity {{{tink you :) }}}

Happy Birthday Grandpaw Bump!
My grandpaw has long been gone, but he is the one that inspired me to dig. When I was a little girl I would sit for hours visiting with him in his garden. He was planting more than veggie seeds and he didn't even know it. I know that you have been an inspiration to many of your grandkids. Keep on digging! :-) Happy, happy birthday :-) Lisa
Was he surprised, Morph? :D We holed up inside yesterday -- too hot for anything else!
I haven't been here for a while so I'm sorry to have missed this Morph. I hope Grandpa had a wonderful day :)
Any chance of an update, morph? I bet it turned out to be a great day, eh?
Morph.....Where are you?
Morph??
I'm gettin nervous...
Anybody know how to call the posse out in her county? Jeez, why does it always fall to me to do the dirty work?
(I emailed her a couple days ago...no response back, yet.)
Vacation maybe?
I e-mailed her, too. Maybe so, Shoe. We've gotta train these folks to let us know if they're gonna be away - we worry about our buddies!
I emailed her too - no answer :-(
I also e-mailed her. No reply.
Hope all is OK with her.
She was going to her Grandpa's over the 4th July weekend.
MMMMOOOOOOORRRRRRRPPPPPPPHHHHHHH!!!!!
I hope she can hear whereever she is!
FYI, Dayton is in Montgomery County, Ohio; not sure if she lives in Dayton itself or one of the 'burbs. Anyone have an address? Phone number?
Is she on Flowox list???????

I hope she hurries up...look at the date she signed up! I wonder if her subscription is about to run out soon!...like the next day or so.
I just checked, she's not on the list!! 'Shoe, her subscription won't run out until Oct. 17, like the rest of us.

Checking the last addy I put for her is her grandfather's: see top. Avon Lake is up by Lake Erie, she lives about 140 miles southwest of there.
Oh good...I forgot when we started that. (List? What list?)
'Shoe, Flowox has been keeping a list of DG members: name, addy, phone, special comments, DG name, etc. Do you have it? Maybe I will pull it up again, but since she is signing off, not sure how current it will be from now on :(
Nope...have no list like that.
Do you think she'd mind if someone jumped in to keep it updated 'til she came back? I don't have all the programs she had, but would be glad to keep a text or WordPad version updated. If someone else already had these same thoughts and wants to do it, by all means DO! But if no one volunteers, I'll be happy to as long as Flowox didn't mind.
'Shoe, mail me and I'll forward it to you.

Oh my, have I been bad! Please stop worrying ~ I'll post a follow-up here in just a minute to explain my absence. Thanks for your concerns... Hold on while I write about everything that's been happening lately...
Kindest Regards,
Morph
I just picked up an email from Sue (aka Shuttlebunny). Thank you, Sue, for contacting me :) I am so sorry that I have been out of touch. Back in early July I headed to Cleveland to celebrate my Bump's birthday and it was a huge success! I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for contributing such wonderful notes and cards to my grandfather!!! He was so pleasantly stunned :) He wanted to write a letter back to everyone (that I would post here) thanking you for kind words and birthday greetings, but I am afraid he is failing faster than I thought.
He lost his free mobility about a month before his birthday. I didn't know this until I saw him in early July and it has been a tremendous hardship for him with regard to gardening. He spent all his free time tending to his growing woodline gardening at the retirement community in which he lives. I have a picture of the area which he built from scratch and had been tending as well as a great picture of him! (I'll get those posted soon.) When we were there for his birthday, we were trying to keep everything that he planted moist in order that it could continue to thrive. With my grandmother having sciatic nerve problems, it will be difficult for her to water for him in our absence. They're both in their mid eighties.
After the jaunt to Cleveland to celebrate Bump's b-day, I tended to the tasks at hand for a voluntary departure from the company for which I've worked for nine years. This was a HUGE decision that had been on my mind for several years. Several things occurred which made my decision easy to solidify, but at the same time, I was under quite a bit of pressure to finalize all my work and the paperwork needed to leave a large company!
Finally, after all of this, we headed to our most favorite secluded spot in Canada to enjoy some nature loving time :) No phones, no t.v., no computers (hooray!!!!) There is indoor plumbing & electricity, but we spent all our time fishing, hiking, foraging, playing games and having a great old fashioned vacation without modern day stress!!!
So, it is August, and I am finally back home. A lot of adjusting to do with a new life without the normal job and no longer being on vacation.
Yes, just one more comment. I retrieve my email from a Hotmail account and even though I purchased the extra storage space, it was reaching 100% capacity. I had to switch the junk mail filter to the "exclusive" setting to avoid my inbox exceeding my storage limit with junk email. Even with junk mail filtering invoked and my mail filtering set to "high", I still get junk mail and it takes up all my space. If you wrote me, I suspect it may have booted the message since it didn't necessarily recognize your individual address. I'm still hoping to get the list of DG members that is circulating. That way I can add everyone to my email correspondence list and receive emails from you :) I have temporarily switched my junk mail filtering from "exclusive" to "high" and this let Shuttlebunnies message get through (thank goodness).
I am so sorry for not letting you all know sooner how absolutely wonderful your gift of the heart was! There is none better and I don't think it could have come at a better time. I owe each and everyone of you a personalized & grateful "thank you"!!!
And, if someone does indeed have the DG member list, I would so like to have it to add everyone listed to my email names. I've put my filtering back to "high" and not "exclusive" until I find a better way of managing it.
You are all wonderful!
Oh, Morph, we are so glad to hear you are OK. It sounds like you had a great time in the wilderness, thanks so much for filling us in on what you have been doing. I am sure we will all see a whole lot more about your decisions in the different forums.
I will send you an e-mail through here that has my e-mail and snail-mail addy on it.
Hugs. Kathy
Oh Morph, I am so glad all is well with you. I was concerned about you.
My DH kept telling me, "Maybe she went on vacation." I guess he was right. Sounds like you had a great time.
Glad to see you back.
Nice to see you back Morph, although I'm sorry to hear about your Grandad.
All the best
Wintermoor
WHEW! We really sweat it when we miss a buddy here at DG! Don't you ever leave without checking in again, young lady, LOL. We were ready to send a posse! :) ((( HUGS )))
Gald to see you back Morph!!!
sure sounds like you had a very good time! sorry to hear about your grandpa.
Thanks, everyone, for caring. And, I will let someone know next time there's such a gap in my time. I really didn't expect it to happen; it's just kind of the way the events evolved over the month. Now I'm hunting for the pictures I have to share with you, but haven't had any luck yet. A lot to put away and get in order around this home!
It's nice to be back home, here, too :)
Oh, Morph, please don't feel guilty that you didn't tell us; please feel special (you are) that so many of us care (we do :)
<<<<<<<< hugs >>>>>>>>>
Dogs...If I was the intrusive type I'd ask where that secret Canada spot was! That sounds like where I need to be sometimes!
Glad to see you back Morph...Surely hope at this time Grandpa is doing better.
