One of Lupinelover's Whimsies

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

This is Mr. Tree - Isn't he a riot?! I'll let Kathy explain his story, since she crafted him and because I'm not originally from the area. He's right outside their back porch, looking in. I had to run out there and get a picture of him when I saw him, LOL. :)

Love Mr. Tree, he looks a little surprised. I think I might have been close to Lupinelover's town on Wed. I didn't realize Grove CIty was that close to Cols. My Garden club went on an outing to Baker's Nursery in Dublin, ate at the Morgan House and then went to, I think it was called Darby Creek Nursey. It is a nice nursery. They had all their hanging baskets at $10. There were some really nice ones. OF course I had to have a couple. Plus I got a bush called Mellow Yellow willow and a couple other things. Came home broke but we had a good day.

Oh! You went to Baker's Acres? I've never been there, but their little catalog is terrific, full of funny little anecdotes and stuff. I've heard it's terrific!

I love willows; we have a variegated willow bush called 'Hikuru Nishiki' and a tree that is a willow bush grafted onto a standard. We love both, although the tree is a little too prolific in its branches and has to be trimmed more often than I'd like; it's a classic case of putting a great plant in the wrong place. It's been there in that rich soil for two years, though, and I'd hate to think how deeply the roots go. Of course, it isn't a willow tree whose roots are there, so it's hard to tell.

C'mon, Kathy, tell the story of Mr. Tree!

My kids saw this and said "Who is that?" LOL Really neat.

Thanks for posting this Kim! You are a sweetie!

Mr. Tree was a character from a local kid TV show when I was growing up, Lucy's Toyshop. A garden art company was selling things at our Volunteer Herb Symposium this spring, and had a huge collection of different faces. I just couldn't resist (giggle). Well, we are allowed to be whimsical now, aren't we?

That is cute! You bought those pieces? I bet it would be fun to try and make a face from household junk. Maybe even hypertuffa would work well. Sounds like a project for you and the kids Michele ;-]

I bet hypertuffa would work well! I have learned how to make pots from it, never thought about faces! Great suggestion. Any volunteers for models LOL
