Anyone know why this purple coneflower has this strange deformation to the bloom? I have 3 plants that came from the same division and they all have this abnormality. Sometimes the blooms are fine, but they never really look as good as they should...and sometimes they are really ugly like this.
What's the problem here?
Looks like someone was playing "loves me, loves me not" with this one... ;)
The flower petals aren't what I'm focusing on. Look at the center of the bloom. It's normally a rounded shape or just flat. This one has a strange shape to it and is very random in it's formation. The other plants I divided from the same plant do the same thing.
