sort of. I bought two each of 16 different perennials at the same garden center today. Each "pair" is as close to the same size as possible. When planted, each received two cups of root stimulant. After they become established in decent soil -- a miracle here -- I'll start treatments. I figure that'll be in a week or two. In all cases, the "left plant" will be the untreated control. Growing conditions will be identical for all plants in the experiment -- same soil, same irrigation, same amount of sunlight, same foliar fertilization. I'll measure at weekly intervals and photograph each pair of plants when growth warrants it. Several "dog walkers" have already commented on the treated perennial bed. They ain't seen anything yet! :)
Tomorrow is the first official measurement of plants in a perennial bed treated last Saturday. That bed has no "controls" -- just stakes to identify the plants being monitored. Because some growth spurts are so noticeable, I sneaked a few measurements today but didn't record them since they're unofficial. Some of those devils have grown six-to-10 inches in six days. The shasta daisies and Stokes asters are *loaded* with buds.
Gibberellic acid experiment 2 started .
Shendoh, thanks for going to the trouble you are for the benefit of us all. I for one will be waiting patiently for updates on your progress.
Pam
