Alaskan Eagle Cam

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Thanks for the snapshots Morph. DH loved seeing the whole family. He's addicted to this now too and I can't even post without him wanting an updated pic. LOL!

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

I'm beginning to wonder if I'll be able to go to sleep tonight! LOL...

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I'm wondering, since these eagles are in Alaska, is it daylight all the time now? I thought maybe it would get dark, but I can't remember when dark and light is in Alaska.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

I can't help but keep taking good snapsnots of this... Here's a trio of shots with either Mom or Dad feeding them again. For your DH, Joan :)

Does it seem to you that she caters to one of them more than the other?

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Yes, I think the one that you & Pebble were observing earlier is either weaker or needs more sleep or something. The other seems to get along just fine but it does seem like she wants to make sure the other is doing just as well, too (IMHO)...

I can see a real change in the chicks since yesterday. They're holding their heads more strongly and moving more positively. G-R-E-A-T !!

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Just checked in with the babies, they're sleeping, and momma is nowhere to be seen :)

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

I just caught momma feeding the yunguns....

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

something's wrong with the cam...

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Missed whatever was wrong, but it was working a few minutes ago and she was sitting there watching them sleep. I wish I could split my screen to keep it in a corner.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Okay, I admit it; I'm totally addicted to this family! Here's a small collage of pix I took today if anyone is interested --> http://davesgarden.com/editgj/showimage.php?iid=7532

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Thanks for sharing those Morph - got my morning fix without having to spend hours watching LOL (8am here)

How can they be so ugly and be sooo appealing at the same time?
One of life's little mysteries :)

Crossville, TN

What are ya'll going to name these babies? They are so adorable...Jo

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Happy to oblige, Philomel :) What is England's National Bird? Is there a separate one Kent?

Now, that's a good question, Jo ~ we ought to give them names!

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

haven't the faintest - don't think we've got one.
But philomel's an olde english name for a nightingale.....

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

I wondered what your DG name meant :)

Austin, TX(Zone 8a)

This webcam is so neat; thanks Jo for posting it. It's another working weekend, but I'm trying to sneak over to DG here and there to catch up on the posts (yeah, right) and I just spent 10 minutes watching the webcam - oops!

An English Newspaper ran a 'natiowide' poll to find out what the 'British' public would like as Britain's National Bird, and the ROBIN won in a landslide victory.

Scotland's national bird is the Golden Eagle.

All the best

Interesting, a Robin. It's quite common here and like a good cup of tea, it's a favorite (at least for me). Seagulls, Robins, Finch and Cardinals always make me feel at home and bring a familiar smile to my face :)

My grandparents had a rivalry both this Spring and last between a pair of Robins and a pair of Blue Jays. They both wanted the same roosting nest my grandparents made available. Last year the Blue Jays won, so we were all cheering for the Robins to win this year. I won't know who won this year till I visit them in July.

All the best to you ...

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

DH and I have names we use for them. Since the Bald Eagle is the US's national bird, we started calling them Abe and George, for Abe Lincoln and George Washington. You don't have to all call them that, but that's what we've been calling them. LOL!

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Now we just need to figure out who's Abe & who's George :) Just in the past half hour, they stretched their wings! I hadn't seen them do that before.

Here's a link to their nonsense behavior (at least I think that's what Mom was thinking!) She quickly started building up the nest probably so they wouldn't fly too soon or fall!

They are changing almost every time we look. Starting to get personalities even. We were without a computer for most of the day, until we decided to steal DD's out of storage until we figure out what's wrong with ours, and we were both amazed at the change in them this evening.

We don't know which is Abe and which is George yet either.

Morph, I love the thing you put together with the pics from today. Thanks! We missed that. DH laughed when he saw/read it too.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

I just like doing stuff like that & I'm glad you enjoyed it. I love nature & graphics so it's just a blast to play with stuff like this.

We'll figure it out soon about who's who. I agree that they change every day & I'm afraid they'll be gone before we know it! How will the Eagle Cam catch that? I'm afraid it won't & I'll miss these birds so much!

Hope your PC is up and running smoothly for now :)

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Mama is feeding them this morning, I hav been watching off and on all weekend. I even printed some shots out.
Morph, thanks for the collages....they are really quite nice.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

I'm at work today :( Can't watch them nearly as much as I'd like...

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Me too, but I'm checking in with the little guys.....(on the sly - lol)

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I'm at work too, but I decided that it looks like a screensaver. LOL!

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

GOOD POINT JOAN.....

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

That one baby looks dangerously close to falling out of the nest. I hope Mama gets back pretty soon and moves him.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

SHE'S BACK AND SCOOTED HIM CLOSER TO THE CENTER

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Does anyone know what she's been feeding them? I'm beginning to think maybe its fish? Joan, can you make a web site your screen saver? I've never done that before but that would be poifect!

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

I dont know what she's feeding them, but it has red in it...might that be blood?

they are alone in their nest right now and one of them looks awfully close to the edge, I keep waiting for it to fall out...they are still in the floppy stage, and he could very easily just flop right out.
I wish we could have a view of where the nest is, how high etc..

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

What a great thing to watch. Better than the Discovery channel and I really like Discovery.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Me too Haighr, I think discovery is the most watch channel in our house. You're right, this is better....I just wish I could see them from a far, and hear them....
That one little guy gets so close to the edge, I just worry about him...

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Now they're both awfully close to the edge. Moma better hurry back and scoot them in to the center...

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

I looked back when I was done posting, and I thought I could only see one baby....gave me a fright.

here is some more info on the cam, and a view from afar

Oh my gosh ~ where did one of the babies go?

Wait a minute, is it hiding under the other one?
