I've found Coreopsis rosea to be a great plant to fill emtpy spaces....either in a little shade or full sun. It spreads quickly but is not deeply rooted. It's easy to pull it out with your hands if you need to. It won't overtake other plants either...unless you have a very small neighbor for it. I like it very much for this purpose.

I think I'll have to get some to fill in some spaces. Like the height and color!
I use the Moonbeam coreopsis, it's a threadleaf too. It is pale yellow and is easier for me to use that color.
