Hi I have these little brown bugs on my purple iris this year. I had them last year but was just getting into gardening so I didn't know what to do. I love to cut flowers and bring them inside but what do I do about these! How do I get the bugs off? I have a friend that told me somthing about dish soap - have any of you heard of it? Also they are very hard to remove they kind of stick to it. Thanks for all your help.
Bugs on iris
You can remove any hitchiking bugs from cut flowers by immersing them in a sink of cold water in which you've added a couple of drops of dish detergent. This will kill them, but it might not knock them off it they've attached to the plants. You may have to hand remove those. Do rinse your flowers afterwards. Some flowers will waterspot or are too delicate for this treatment.
