The largest of my magnolia trees has been blooming it's heart out for awhile now. A friend told me that on one tree you get both male and female flowers...the males come first. When I looked at the first blooms I could see a red ring where the petals attached at the bottom. I picked this one yesterday, but didn't see the red ring...so is this a female?? how do you tell?? or did my leg get pulled big time?
A question of sex
Looks like no one on Dave's Garden knows anything about sex LOL!!!
i heard you have to have 2 of them to get blooms..shows what i know.
Hmmm, I don't know for sure, but I've always thought that each and every flower was both male and female. I'm talking about M. grandiflora, so maybe they were talking of some other kind of Magnolia?
Beats me..maybe my leg was getting pulled..not the first time and I'm sure not the last. LOL
