plants around pool

Besides Hostas what else can I plant around an above ground pool?

Try holly fern. You might have to pot it and take it in for winter, I don't know how hardy it is. Any wood fern that grows wild in your area will be nice. Cast iron plant, Aspidistra elatior, looks sort of tropical. Castor bean grows fast and has large leaves for a tropical effect. In an area where there is no foot traffic, try short trellises with vines that will grow fast, even evergreen vines.

Spring Hill, FL(Zone 9a)

I have evergreen Yews grown into a trimmed hedge around mine in NY. It is 15 years old so they are quite mature and look great. In FL we have Queen Palms at the corners and split leaf Philodendrons along the walkway but that won't work in PA.

Tig it gets morning Sun (if it ever shines again) on the and afternoon shade.
