I am so excited here, a friend of ours told me about a house that was being remodeled and the whole yard is going to be bulldozed!! this was a old house and whoever use to live there LOVED flowers!! Sooo I had the pleasure of going over there and digging up any and all the plants I wanted!!! this is what all I got so far: 25 mixed hosta, 6 rose of sharon trees(about 3'tall) a beautiful dark red climbing rose! a small rose bush, canna lilies, day lilies, creeping phlox, 2 fig trees, a bunch of hydrangia(sp) bearded iris, siberian iris(sp) and even a few things that I am not sure of what they are!! and I am going back for more!!! I can't not stand by and let them bulldoze those beautiful flowers and trees!! I can't believe I FINALLY got first dibs on something like this! I always manage to get the leftovers and or nothing at all! I am soo excited! my yard is finally going to look half way decent this year! So looks like I will be doing some good trading come this fall!!
I hit a Gold mine!!!!!!
A gold mine indeed, good for you, have fun!
Way to go, Molly! It's your turn, so enjoy it!
Wow molly you hit the Mother load!!! happy for you!!!=]
Good for you, Mollybee! Congrats on your good fortune :)
That's wonderful! :-)
:) Couldn't be happier for you.
Okay everyone, let's all do the happy dance for Molly
How exciting Molly! I'm so happy for you. You'll have to keep us up to date on what else you get. Happy digging and planting!
Fortune has favoured the 'brave'. You are lucky. I'm happy for you. No such thing happens here :{
Molly, remember me when you have extra Siberian Iris?
I have just been in heaven lately with all these new things to plant! Seems as though the tables have finally turned in my favor and I am just beside myself with happiness! Dh and I went back over there only to find that they had already started the bulldozing :( there were still soo many plants that I didn't get...but I guess I have plenty and so I will let them all rest for awhile before trying to trade any of them out.
I will let ya'll know as soon as they are ready to trade.
Wow, you did hit the jackpot....lucky girl....hehehe
Is DH making any new beds for you?? I got lucky two years ago when my neighbor who was tried of gardening gave me anything I wanted from her garden to plant in my new bed that my husband wasn't quite finished with. We never dreamed that he would finish the bed and have it all planted all in the same day, much less for free, that is if blood and sweat are free. LOL Congats!!
Congrats Mollybee. I'm really happy for you :)
pssst.....if you have any extra creeping phlox, let me know, my mom has been looking for some for a long time now
Now Molly we know where to go for the goodies. Villa Rica here I come. Jim
What a great stroke of luck Molly and the nice thing about this is that the person who once lived there obviously loved their garden. The fact that you are taking over these treasures is a form of legacy. I would like to think that someone would do the same for me. Wherever the former tenant is, I'm sure they are so grateful to you!!
Yep, Dh is going to make me a couple new beds next weekend kinda like a belated Mother's Day gift! hee hee I am soo siked about summer this year!!
You know I did kinda feel good about myself the day we went to get all these....for some reason I felt like a lifesaver or should I say a plant saver! I think too that if the person that once lived there had known they were going to bulldoze the whole yard they would have been happy to see me sweating my hindend off digging them all up. LOL
Soon as fall of the year rolls around I am going to try trading some of the things out to you all. But as of now all of it is planted in its new home at least until fall.
I'll be sure and keep ya'll posted if I have some ready any earlier than that k?
Thanks for all the Congrats!! makes me feel soo happy!!!
Definitely worth all that sweat Molly!! I'm so happy for you!! :-)
ditto on what louisa said........definately worth the sweat. You deserve it my dear :)
lucky dawg!!!! :)
