Tung Oil Tree

Recently a friend has given me several large nuts from their grandmother's tung oil tree. Here in the south it is a small (about 20') umbrella shaped tree with very nice white flowers. I would like to start these from seed, but have no idea how. I 've had these drying for about 3 months. I broke apart one and planted it one of the seeds (there are four in each nut) about an inch down, in potting mix, in October. So far nothing has happened. It has been in my greenhouse where I've germinated seeds for other things. Everthing else there is doing well. Maybe I'm too impatient?

One of my plant propagation books says to "Propagate from seed sown issitu, or from cuttings". I don't think I would have dried the seeds, that usually a bad idea for nuts.
BTW the latin name is Vernicia Fordii syn. Aleurites Fordii

Thanks Wendy, the site was very helpful. Now, can anyone one tell me what "stratification" means? I heard the term mentioned in the "germinating tomato seeds" forum, but the process was not described
