I don't know where to post this but I thought if this isn't the right place maybe it will be redirected to the appropriate thread. But, every spring I look forward to the arrival and subsequently short stay, of the birds I like best. This past week we got to gaze upon some Redbreasted Grosbeaks, they are so incredibly beautiful, and paired with Goldfinches and Cardinals and all the other really cool birds we have it really is quite colorful. This means it is officially SPRING in Michigan, YEAH!!!!
At Last!
Lucky you! I look forward to robins for springtime arrival. Not many other 'special' birds here in the city. Love to see the Morning Doves too. But I love to here all of the birds chirping and singing so early in the morning. Heralds of Spring and new birth!
We saw a pair of bluebirds - which is very unusual here in Dallas! They usually don't come this far west - so it was really special to see them - they are so beautiful!
Hi Purpleice,
Hey, the Redbreasted Grosbeaks
have been here, too!
I know it's officially Spring
(here in Mid-Michigan)
because I heard a Wren singing his
big song yesterday. :-)
We have two pairs of bluebirds as well...it's wonderful!
So many birds here, the cardinals and others that I have to identify when I get the time. "What is life when full of care, we have no time to stand and stare"!! Yea, I know - should be ashamed of myself and make the time but with builders, sick animals and a new garden - it's hard!! At least I do hear them when I have my first cuppa on the cat porch!!
It's great to hear from all of you! What would we do without our feathered friends? I hope everyone has a nice summer...
It's too weird that I just read this...We just saw a red breasted grosbeak on the feeder. The bird book said this is a migratory area. He must be on his way to the NE. BEAUTIFUL!!!!
i saw my first cardinal yesterday. The robins though have been around for a long time and always herald the first of spring to me. Most recently the birds here about have been busy courting each other. the other day 2 males were chasing 1 female about the back yard. :)
the next thing will be hearing those new little babies chirping from the nests. :)
The first hummer today and my annual orioles, both on the same DAY!!! It's been unusaully cold and rainy here but 3 day's ago we bought a fuchsia and hung it outside the window and it paid off. Had to bring it in at night because of potential frost but right back out as soon as it warmed up. Tomorrow the orange Oriole feeder goes up, can't wait for all my buddies to come over and dine! Spring is soooooooo awesome!
I thought I saw a hummer dart into the garage. They love that red thingy on the garage door but it was a blue butterfly!! Me and my eyes!!! Could it have been a monarch - it was beautiful!!
