Pick up truck for greenhouse?

Does it sound possible to use my husbands pick up truck that he just took off the road as a greenhouse for my vines? I am figuring it would heat up during the day and at night it would maybe still have some heat retained? Or at least be warmer in the truck as opposed to being outside.
Temps are average 45 during the day, low 30s at night. Thinking it will be warmer once the sun finally shines. (Havent had sun in what seems weeks!)
I am getting desperate to get these things out of my house.
Thanks

Janice,

That is difficult to say. Does it have a shell on the back or were you putting them in the cab. Either way you would have to watch day temps inside when it is sunny. It can get hotter than you think inside, and you may wind up burning your plants. By the way, just how much growth do your vines have now? It could make a difference as to how long to get them acclimated.

Hi Putty
I was planning to put the plants in the cab. The driveway is on the east side of the house. Gets sun until a little after noon. Maybe a little longer. Perhaps I should open a window during the day? It has only been reaching average 45 degrees. I was figuring that even if it got to 80 degrees that would be a comfortable temp. What do you think?
I bought the clematis "bare root" but it had already started growing. I would estimate that the vines are approx. 12-16 inches high.
Think I could do it?
thanks

I would say it is worth a shot. I would crack a window on sunny days. You are probably close to out of the woods for anything other than frost anyway, so the cab shoud protect your plants. I would still keep an ear out for the night temps in your area. You may still want to haul them in on nights they say are going below freezing. At least for a week. I hope that helps.

Thanks Sally.
I was planning on doing just that ( taking them in on cold nights.) Thanks again

You are welcome.

Sally :)

Sally. Your online. Thanks so much. I hate these bugs that are invading my house. Sorry to say that I am thinking I may rather risk the vines dying than having these flying things in my house.

Janice, what bugs are you talking about?

These flying things. Something like knats but not them. I had them in the house since I brought the plants into the house. I think they came from potted bulbs that I bought. They are driving me crazy. I have tried killing them with a bug spray but it dosent work. I read on one of the forums that others have this problem and to just transplant them but I would rather just get the plants out rather than do that. I dont keep houseplants because of the bug thing.
I hate bugs like that. Especially in my house.

Shucks

How about placing some 2in styrafoam on the bed (or a couple
in of sawdust.

From front to back, line edges with 1 gal jugs filled with water. to hold heat.

Cover the bed at night.
