I bought one of these two weeks' ago. It was beautiful!! Doesn't quite look like the picture on the link - more squat and a denser plant. I think it spreads to about 5 feet or more!! I sited it in moist soil/part shade!! The heatwave of a couple of week's ago has just about ruined it. I am going to move it to all shade area now but in the meantime, my question is this. If I cut out the dead growth will it renew again? Thanks!!

Louisa, check out the plants database entry here: http://plantsdatabase.com/go/2726.html I agree you'd be well advised to find it a permanent home in full shade :)
They ARE pretty plants, especially when in bloom; I've been tempted by them each time I go to Home Depot, and one of these days I may just break down and buy one (or two or three...)
Louisa
I had a similar thing happen to one I had (the one on Vols link is a new one), it doesn't like being cut back especially if you are going to move it. Come to think of it it doesn't like being moved much either. Are you on acid soil?
Thanks for your help. Terry I did look at the link but it didn't say whether the plant would die out if I cut it back. Baa it's a young plant and I've only just planted it. It is still green in the middle but the outer branches are brown and withered looking. It's unsightly and I'm going to have to remove the dead foliage/needles!! I mean the dead stuff is not going to green up again!! I'm so annoyed that I didn't put it in complete shade!! By the way, the photo on the link showed a much sparser plant than mine. I guess it's because mine is still young!!
Louisa, just cut away the dead stuff as you had planned.
I think I will have to pebble!!! :-)
