Moss recipe??

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Anyone have the recipe moss. It's used to spread on stones or containers to accerlerate the moss growth. I think it has yogurt in it??

The one I saw had buttermilk in it,then I saw one with beer....Alcohol abuse!LOL

you can mix buttermilk and moss in a blender and spray it on, or just buttermilk. I was in a bind for time, so I just poured my soured milk all over the rocks. I already had a piece or two of the moss going good.

Hi Poppysue, I hit 'grow moss' into a search engine and came up with a bunch. These are two of them. Have fun. :) Okay that was strange. Lost one link and the other wouldn't work. Hmph!http://www.rebeccasgarden.com/tips/items/98ismm11.htm

Thanks ya'll. I'm gonna give this a try. I don't have buttermilk handy but I'm sure there's some sour milk in the fridge!

I'm pretty sure you can use plain yogurt, too if it's got active cultures.

Gardenology has a recipe for growing moss, too :)

I did it. Hubby was not too impressed with my mud pie mess ;o)) I used moss, sour milk, water, a bit of fertilizer for acid loving plants and I added a couple tablespoons of wheat flower to make it thick. Yum Yum!! Don't think I'll ever use my blender again!

I painted it on a clay pot and my St.Frances statue. I have them in a big tub with a couple of inches of water. I was thinking maybe I'd cover them with plastic to keep them moist. I hope it works.

Will you post a picture for us to see your before & after, Poppysue?

P-U, Poppysue. But if it works, I'll be stinkin' up this joint, too. LOL! Just so long as no one ends up with a moss milkshake mustache here.

I'm not seeing anything on mine.... Cept yucky brown smears. I have to admit I haven't done a good job at keeping them moist.
