This is a cicada. For the last 2 years the nymphs have attached themselves to the screen room to emerge into adults. I'm sure most of you have probably seen the shells left behind, but have you seen an adult comming out of it's shell?? Way cool...the wings are lacey and delicate looking and edged in a very pretty shade of bluesh green.
OK boys and girls..today's bug
Ginger...I have heard of "bag ladies", but I think I'll name you The Bug Lady! You must live far from town, and the bright lights....LOL (me too, but I watch the Quail)LOL Jo
Yes..we're in the country and sometimes I happen to be at the right place at the right time with the camera in hand. LOL. 'cept for butterflies no more bugs, but got pics of snakes..even got a shot of one shortly after it swallowed a blue jay..sad to loose the jay,but such is nature.
Well, I'll be!!! Ginger go see my post regarding the 'aliens' in your garden. You took the words right out of my mouth or vice versa :-) So are you creating a portfolio to send to science magazines? If not, then perhaps you should think about it. Great shots!!
Boy those things are noisy!
I LOVE the sound of them. Reminds me of the camping trips we used to take when I was a kid in Montana. They are fun to have around as far as I am concerned. Thanks for the memories! :>) Lani
