I had no idea that #1. these spread everywhere. or #2. that these spread so MUCh everywhere! lol/ If anyone is looking for any special color in the Fall , keep me in mind. I have McKenna ones that were planted after the school kids were killed. in memory of them. and I have some just other ones here there and EVERYWHERE>

LOL, me, too. Sure makes you realize what "self-seeds freely" means, doesn't it? :) I love them, though - they can be as free as they want to be!

Seeing their beautiful little leaves uncurling is one of the highpoints of spring for me, even more than crocuses or other spring bloomers. They're just so pretty and cheerful to see! I bought several varieties of them at a plant sale last weekend and I'm looking forward to seeing them bloom. :)

Columbine love it here. I have flabellatas and McKanas, as well as Nora Barlows, and a couple dwarf varieties. The McKana's are hybrids, so their babies may not be a vibrant as the mother plant.

We have them everywhere too. Now they have bred with each other for a gew generations we have doubles, trebles, bicolours, variegated and golden leaves and pompom flowers. The trebles and pompoms are from crossing with a pompom we had already. I love them. We did have a number of species but the winter before last was incredibly wet and killed off my treasures but the vulgaris survived.

for such a delicate leaf, they sure are hardy

We have a patch 3'x3' in the landscape of the Farm, where I work. They are Queen Anne, I believe. They are blooming their little heads off right now. They are so unusual anyway but to see those yellow, weird shaped flowers blowing in the breeze is awesome. That is one of the pretties I see every morning when I get to work.
