I got Bunny Tails!!

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

I am soo happy!! I planted seeds last year for the "Bunny Tail Grass" and all I got was the soft fuzzy grass. It stayed green all winter and I was hoping to have it do something this year....and it did!!!! I have bunny tails!! LOL Has anyone ever had any?? I am not even sure as to how tall it gets or anything, I was just happy to have some tails hee hee What have you babied since last year that is now finally doing something??

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

I love it too and use it in dry arrangements. Well done girlie!!

That's it Louisa!! Thanks!! I think it is soo neat looking too, and I can't get enough of soft fuzzy feel that the grass has. almost makes ya want to rub your face in it lol although I would look a bit foolish all bent over rubbing my face in the grass since I live on a main street, all the cars passing by would think I was insane!! lol

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I didn't know VR had a main street. lol
Please save me some seeds.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Sure thang GRC! I will gladly save you some seeds...only if you or someone else can tell me where they will be?!! lol My guess is that the seeds would be the "bunny tails" themselves right???? If that's the case I will gladly save you some.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I think our local garden center had it labelled "Little Bunny Fountain Grass"; maybe that's a different variety? It's so neat looking! ":-)

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

GW, Did you happen to feel of the grass part?? It is sooooo soft!! If you have the chance to see it again, be sure and feel of it!

Doesn't look like you got an answer to your question yet. But I do know that they grow 18 to 36" tall. I'm growing the same "bunny tails" from seeds, and would like to know the same answer to your question. When and where do those seeds show up? Anyone know?

Wow I had forgotton all about this thread. You're right no one ever told me how to collect the seeds from them, so all I did was collect the tails themselves after they truned brown. But I didn't try them this year, and the plant didn't come back after the hotttt summer we had and the cold winter. In fact I think I sent the "seeds" to Georgiaredclay last year, and I don't remember if I even kept any for myself. So I can't say how they will or did do. Maybe Jim will see this post when he has time to get on, then he can let us both know.
Thanks for bringing up this thread.

I was just at a friend's garden and she had this bunny tail grass and it was only about 12 inches high but had the bunny tails. She said her grandchildren gave the plant to her for easter. What a cute gift instead of chocolate. But I would never refuse chocolate.˜¿¯

Not so many calories and they don't melt in your hand.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Being as Chocolate goes straight to my hips....I think I would have wanted the bunny tails too! LOL

I just loved mine I couldn't get enough of feeling of the grass part. The green grass foliage feels like bunny hair! It is the softest thing you have ever felt too!! The tails feel just like a bunnys tail...kinda rough yet soft too.
You'll love 'em if you ever get them started.
