New private subscriber-only forum?

Is anybody interested in a new forum that is restricted (in every way) to subscribers only? It would be a forum where nobody can read it, no search engines can index it, and nobody even knows of its existence except for the paid subscribers of DG.

Interested?

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Sort of a members-only club. Interesting thought - I like it. :)

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Dave, would this be an extension of our membership here, for an additional fee, or would it be a different site?

It'd just be a new forum, just like all the other forums. The only difference is that subscribers are the only ones who will know of its existence. No extra fee or anything like that.

I'll put the forum up tomorrow morning or sometime soon after - thanks for your feedback.

Well since I voiced my concerns and apprehensions I can hardly say no!!! :-) Breathing a sign of relief and I say yes, most emphatically!! Thankyou so very much Dave!!

Thank you, Dave. Me too !

Allen Park, MI(Zone 6a)

I don't say anything in any forums that I would prefer for Members only. What would you possibly discuss that the public shouldn't see?

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Well Paul there have been certain issues where lately I have felt obliged to give an insight into my life and past experiences because I believe a certain thread warranted it!! I have to tell you that the people I intended to reach read my posts and so I accomplished my objective. I have since deleted them because I don't want the whole world to know my business!! In my naiveity, coupled with my computer idiocy, I thought only DG members could view the posts!!

Me too Louisa'

But if you think about it, there's 400+ subscribers at DG. We'd like to think they're all nice people and good-intentioned like we are, but there's no way to know even that. I don't view anything said online, including e-mails, to be private. I guess I'm like PaulGrow in that I assume stuff I say can be read by others and judge accordingly.

But I'm the type of person who will talk to anyone when I'm out, and I know not everyone is like that. I can understand how some would feel uncomfortable with their opinions and feelings open to the public's eye...But I'd encourage y'all not to pull your posts because that's how we get to know each other and it's so interesting getting to know you!

Thank you for seeing this apparent need, Dave, and for responding so soon.

Plymouth, MI(Zone 6a)

I think its a good idea and will look forward to using it at certain times when I feel more comfortable with 400 people rather than 10,000 and growing!!!!!

(Zone 5a)

I think it's a great idea and maybe our searches won't take so long.

So will this be like General Discussion only closed to subscribers only?

Hampstead, NC(Zone 8a)

Sounds good to me, but would like more information.

Zone 6, OH(Zone 6a)

For the new forum >>>> Doesn't matter to me...whatever. Sounds like it can't hurt though.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I think it's a great idea

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

I think that is an absolutely brilliant idea. Go for it Dave.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Well, I'd use it...but not solely. I'd still participate in the rest of the forums. I tend to watch what info I give out but it's usually names and/or pics of family members. (And I'd still exercise that even with a subscribers only forum.)
I'm glad Dave is gonna do it tho...I always like new things and can see it will make many of you much more comfortable here.

It is finished. You can access the new forum by adding it to your "watchlist", it's in the Miscellaneous forum.

You must be subscribed and logged in to access this forum.
