Garden Poetry

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

I have a friend who likes to write poetry and he wrote a couple on gardening, So I thought I'd share them with you's ~

STRENGTH THROUGH GENTLENESS
       Plants and flowers,
        unique they are not,
        to woman or man
           ah,
    but taken to hand
        the opportunity they will employ
        to flaunt and to show
     how awareness and strength
       through gentleness grow

STILL AWESTRUCK BY LIFE'S SIMPLICITIES

The morning sun emits a tale
in an early prelude to the ides of March
upon whose breath the mystical changes of spring shall come
Unannounced and unexplained, a crocus emerges
parting soil and mulch
To bask in the warmth and nourishing ray
Element traces and trace elements, stored in and beneath natures breast reveal to all their work complete In the impassioned arrival of one of mother earth's delicate offspring
Scientist and theologians, argue, banter and spat about reason and theory, analyzing and capsulizing,
fact or guess, as to origin or evolution
A game I find no less or more interesting
than that of a pin ball wizard or curious child
his or her pockets filled with natural treasurers
I more ignorant than not, certainly far less enlightened, find myself still awestruck by life's simplicity as I scurry about my toils with no need for accountability
I am impressed and enveloped by the
sights and sounds of natures daily routine
with but one why to cry,
Why I or we, can't allow our selves the time needed
To kneel, to smell, to enjoy, if for but only a moment, That of which proofs itself, that life is but a mystery, Full of wonder, excitement, anticipation and even revelation
From the unique timing of wild geese whose returning coincides always, with the receding of glacial blankets from ponds and streams or the awesome strength of a fragile flower, making it's way through the frost bitten earth, to an appreciative audience, if it be but only me…
