Message for 'shoe and Wingnut!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I think I remember reading posts that both of you are planing and planting demonstration gardens this year. If so, would either (or both) of you mind adding your own definition(s) of "demonstration garden" to gardenology: http://davesgarden.com/gardenology/go/252/

It's one of the few terms still seeking its identity - won't you help it out?

And (since this message is likely to be read by more than the two people I named), ANYONE with a definition is welcome to add theirs - the more the merrier :)

Paulgrow put one in...couldn't have said it better myself. He summed it up perfectly!

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Yep, I sure would have added a definition, but I like Paulgrow's ~ short, sweet and precise! LOL!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

LOL, you two - me thinks you waited until Paul took pity and added a definition for you. When you get your demonstration gardens up and running, I hope you'll post pics (since that's one of Gardenology's capabilities :)

Hmmm..now that's a good idea (or "idear" to ya'll further north).

Aw, shucks, Vols! Ya' figgered us out!! Actually, Kenny and I just got back late yesterday from a 9 day roadtrip to NY state ~ had a great time! We drove through Tennessee (my fave state along the way ~ gorgeous place, TN!!) and I saw an orange billboard with your name on it! LOL!

My fave part of all was visiting Monticello. I'm awestruck! I posted a pic on the photo forum: http://davesgarden.com/showthread/209667.html I'm waiting 'til tomorrow to post more pics in my journal ~ after a week+ of driving and sleeping in truckstops half the time, my brain's still flibberdygibbered and dummystruck. Just got my "land legs" back today! LOL!

>my brain's still flibberdygibbered and dummystruck. <

Gosh, you Texicans sure talk purty. :-)

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Wingnut, it sounds like you had a great trip - I'm glad you made it back safe and sound, and I'll be checking for those pictures - I've never been to Monticello, but from the photos I've seen, it's gorgeous :)

(Yeah, I'm right famous in these here parts. Every Saturday in the fall you can hear 100,000+ people screaming GOOOOO VOlS! hee hee)

Knoxville, TN

Oh, Nana!!! We sure could have used that! We were passing through Knoxville right about lunchtime even, darnit! No, wait...we stopped in Jackson at Casey Jones Village and tanked up (Jackson is before Knoxville when you're heading East, right?). Ever been there? GREAT food!! Even the turnip greens were great and I normally don't care for turnip greens. And the ambience is awesome!

Go-Vols, I'll try to get those pics uploaded today. I miscalculated on how long the dummystruck-ness would last.

You liked that, Brook? Yeah, we also talk descriptive, too! Just think what a flibberdygibbered and dummystruck brain looks like!! *GIGGLE-SNORT!*

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

giggling....your brain still must be whatever-that-word-was-you-used (whoo boy!)

Jackson is a bit west of Nashville - about midway between Memphis and Nashville. Casey Jones Village IS fun - when we lived in Oklahoma and drove back here to see family, we'd sometimes stop there to eat. Glad you liked the greens. Can't say I've ever developed a fondness for them; must have something to do with repeated exposure to canned spinach in my formative years - BLECK!!!!

(Ooops, I better be careful; my mom's probably reading this - sorry mom! But you know how I feel about cooked spinach - ewwwwww!)

>Just think what a flibberdygibbered and dummystruck brain looks like!! *GIGGLE-SNORT!*<

I shudder to even think.

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Yep, that's one of the symptoms, Brook. ;-)

I hate canned spinach, too, Vols ~ gotta' put vinegar and boiled eggs on top to even stomach it usually. But these didn't taste like that at all! I only spooned a bite or two on my plate, just to try (I'm an adventurous sort ;-) and was quite surprised ~ went right back for more! Turnip greens are so easy to grow and pretty in the garden that I'd always wished I could eat them. I have to get the recipe!

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

I got the Monticello pics up! http://davesgarden.com/journal/viewentry/13262/index.html Also pics of Elvis' jet, the Lisa Marie, here: http://davesgarden.com/journal/viewentry/13263/index.html

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Wow..sounds like a great place! Ya'll had a good time didn't ya! I'd like to go live there!

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)
