I am Maria Elena.. was named after a record that was recorded in the 40s. I like my name but wish there would have been a nickname I could use. Sometimes I see DGers use a name here and there but curious on lots of others. Would be interesting.
Meems "Maria"
Real Names revealed....
I am Diane and it is my middle name. Don't know how they decided to name me. I never use my first name unless forced to.
I am Ellen. I have a granddaughter named Elena after me only the Spanish version since her father is Mexican. His mother was Margarita Elena so she is named after both of us. My husband has called me Elena all of our married lives. I was taking Spanish in High School when I met him. In class we always went by our Spanish name. He liked it and has called me that for 50 years.
My husband is named Albert and my grandson is Adrian Alberto after him and his Mexican grandfather whose name is Jorge Alberto. Neat, hu?
I'm Paul I like to grow things hence Paulgrow.
My Name Is Paul Eugene, My mothers name was Pauline and my Dads was Eugene so I was named after both parents.
I once took a Dale Cargnie course, one the the most important points that they stressed was that a persons name is one of their most prized possessions; there is alot of truth in that NO ONE can ever take it away.
Paul
Well.....my name is Jerrie Lynn. After 2 girls ahead of me in 2 yrs time...they were convinced that I was going to be a boy! LOL....they kept the name and made some adaptations to the spelling.
"eyes"
I go by Bonnie, real name is Bonita, and prefer tiG :)
My name is Rosalyn, but I usually am called Roz (my mother was the only one to call me Rosalyn). My name here is also Roz, cause I'm not real creative nor clever.
My name is Mary Ellen. I was called Baby or Kitten until I started school. After that I was Baby until mom was getting angry then it was Maryellen--Just one word.
I'm Susanne Lieselotte.........I got my middle name from one of my aunts I think on my father's side. I never did like it much, it's such an old fashioned name. As for my first name I just go by Susan since it's German and has a different pronounciation and too many people call me Susanna. My family calls me Susi though :)
I'm Kathleen - my brain cells probably wouldn't recognize any other name! My grandchildren call me Grama Kat, my friends call me Kath, my mother calls me Kathy and my brothers call me K. Stan introduces me as Kathleen, but when he's perturbed he calls me KATHY in that tone of voice every wife knows well. There's someone who spends summer in a town not too far from here who calls me Rachel or Rebecca and I have no idea why -
My real name is Deborah but never use this name always call me "Debbie" since I was born and my grandma choose the name of this old fashion name never like the name prefer Debbie.

And I was always told my name was Virginia Carolina, until I applied for a birth certificate and found out it is the reverse...Carolina Virginia. Most people just call me Ginny.
I'm Margaret Rose - my mother had a thing about the British royal family. Silly mum!! My 6 siblings all have 'royal' names!!
I am Penny Sue. Parents from Tennessee where two names were a big hit. Also I was told I was named Penny for an old cartoon character, Penny Pringle (ever heard of her?). My father wanted my name to be Penny Candy, but mother won out with the Sue, thank goodness! Some people use both my names, others use only Penny. My DH calls me Penny Sue most of the time, and my father always called me Penny Suedy, Go figure! I've been called every coin and dollar bill denomination in the book - Nickel, Dime, dollar bill, etc. For awhile in High School (over 30 years ago!) some friends called me Gidget, and I have no idea why! Names are interesting!
O.K. are you ready for this??? Now don't laugh! My name on my Birth Certificate says.... Assunta Conchetta Maria Zarro , which in English is Susan Connie! Now I go by Sue and only when I am in big trouble does my Mother call me SUSAN!!!!!!! I was Named after my grandmother! Are you done laughing now???? hehe
sue
My name is Betty Jo...for both Grandmothers...but was called Jody all during my school years, and still use it sometimes. I was given the user name of roadrunner years ago (before the Roadrunner wireless), because DH and I would be ready to travel at the drop of a hat! I still am!! Jo
I am Aimée Grace. I pronounce my first name as ah-may, and I bet that surprises most of you. I didn't use my first name until about 20 years ago, when I decided I didn't have to tolerate being called Gracie any more. Some people seem to find it difficult to say AhMay, accent on May, and I can't figure why, since they say Renée and lamé with the greatest of ease. I answer to anything I think is said in a friendly sense, and not at all to hecklers. Being short, I have been half pint, short stuff, minigrace, and little bit quite often.
My mane is Deborah, Debbie for short. Meems, one of my friends has a daughter named after that song, too, it was her fathers favorite, except she spelled her daughter's Maria Lana, instead.
Debbie
My name is Carol. My mother told me she named me after the Christmas carols being sung before I was born. I was born January 31sth, so we must have lived in a neighborhood that was a bit behind the times! I've never had nicknames, since "Carol" doesn't lend itself to one, though I do recall my mother called me "Polly" for some unknown reason. I don't recall being particularly fond of crackers, so I'm afraid it must have been my passion for talking! My DH's name is Dennis.
My name is Darlene Rose or is it Rosa.. I was always told Rose & my mother was Rosa Lee. Well, when I got my birth certificate I was Darlene Rosa & my mother was Rose Lee..
I got my SS # in Rosa so guess that's who I am. My DH is Greenwood & he sometimes call me Dar which I like.
Sugar_fl (cause I'm sweet & in Florida *LOL*)
My name is Vicki Louise. My friends call me vic

Hey Weez..I'm Carol too......
and yes..no way to get a nickname from that..some have called me Carolina..just for fun..but I am just Carol..
Years ago, when my youngest nephew was learning to talk, "Aunt Linda" came out "Anwinga" ~ oldest nephew sid, "It sounds like he's saying 'Aunt Wingnut'!" I'd been driving in demolition derbies for a few years by then, so it stuck. The boys still call me "Aunt Wingnut" and to sis and bro-in-law I'm just "Wingnut."
Hubby's Skinny Kenny ~ if you saw him, you'd see why. *grin* He has business signs on his truck that say "Skinny Kenny's Firewood" and we get quite a few grins when we go down the road! LOL!
Hi, I am Donna...except by my Eastern relatives, they still call me Donna Jean. My Italian side called me Donnajean, all one word. LOL
I am Terese Kathleen and everyone has always called me Terry. My parents expected a boy when I was born so I got named after my father who was Terence aka Terry. They made a slight adjustment from Terence to Terese. LOL
One of few people that I know that has three names
James Robert Lee. I have hated it all my life but finally realized a name doesn't make a person. Go by Jim or Jimbob or Pop to most everyone since that was what the boys called me and then I worked at the same place with my youngest boy and everyone called me pop. Also paw paw to the ones I love most.
Mary Elaine here, But everyone calls me Molly. I am the youngest of 7 kids and my mother decided to name me after her mother. Which her name was "Mary Fanny" and they called her Molly. I am soo glad I wasn't named "Fanny"!! My fanny is big enough without it. LOL
Now you can laugh again..... My name is Aimo Evert Johannes. I really don't like the first one, it is an old Finnish name and I got it from mt grandfathers dad. I havenät even heard much about him. Why did they gave the name to me why not to somebody else? I hate it. It is quite similar to a Finnish word aivo, which means brains. I have also been called aivo evert vihannes, vihannes means vegetable. .... Evert was made by my mom. It is originally a German name and come from name Eberhart which means 'strong like a bear'. Funny. Johannes is from my dad, because his name is also Johannes.. (Jorma Johannes).
Get your kids names that are easy to be pronunciated, don't have r or s (you never know if your children can't say some letters right), and don't give them any names that you would not like to have yourself! :) Evert is ok name but it is pretty hard to say fast. :P
----------------
Now in 2004 for the enroll to the new school I marked Aimo as my name - I like it much more nowadays than Evert. That's how opinions change by time.. :)

Carla, here. My Dad wanted to name me Natasha after a Russian actress, but my mom thought Natasha Thompson sounded a little silly, so they chose Carla Jean, instead.
I'm Hilary. Always been a bit undecided, but as it means 'the happy one' perhaps it's OK.
My surname is Nightingale which is where the philomel comes from - it's an olde english name for the bird. (Sorry to bore all those of you who'd read that before).
My children are Owen (I have welsh ancestry) and Vivien (lively).
Wouldn't have minded being called either, assuming i was the right sex. I know Owen's happy with his. Vivien would have been if the Young Ones hadn't come along in her teenage years. Think everyone's forgotten that now, so she's happy again!
I'm Lois. Didn't like my name for a long time. Then I started learned about the meaning of names and found out that Lois meant Victorious. By that time, I had been 'around the block' a few times and came to appreciate the name Lois. One of my professors in college affectionately called me Louis all the time, and when he called me Lois I knew he was unhappy with me over something.
You made me chuckle ruby, cos my name is susan too, but I also knew when I was in trouble when I heard it in full :-)most of my family call me susie, as i'm the baby of us (at 47 ?)most of my friens just call me Sue,but one woman at work used to insist on calling me Suzanne !she always insisted I didn't look like a plain old ,,Susan, but much more exotic looking. Never knew wether to take that as a complement or not.At school I used to be called Banan boat bessie, as I was always very dark skinned,(mind you our family spenr every spare moment at our beach-hut, i even remember Mum picking me up at lunchtime to go to the hut, then back after afternoon school too for tea. It seemed an idillylic childhood.
My name is Carmen,
my grandfathers name was Carmine but since I was a girl my parents named me Carmen.
Ruby42 (Sue)I don't laugh my moms middle name is Conchetta also.
So many Deborahs out there.
If a real name is what most people call you then I think my name is Dav-al-bar-bo-jea-sorry, although my birth certificate says Deborah Lee (3 boys and they couldn't even think of the female spelling). I don't quite know why my parents bothered naming me, I'm lucky if Mother doesn't call me Bo (the dog's name) and my Father would always called me Lucy or Juicy Lucy (don't ask). My Fathers family have a tradition where none of them answer to their given names, they are all known under pseudonyms which is incredibly confusing. Even bosses and friends have trouble remembering my given name, the MD at my last job kept calling me Patty or Tammy.
I think I'm going to change my name by deed poll LOL
