SYR, our Latin name lookup will do the same thing - look in the right-hand column under DG network.

You're welcome'

i know i tried that... however if i have the common name and need the latin one i can't get it....
I am trying to find all the common names and vice versa for what I have so that way i have both names... if the plant has it...
SYR

Tried also in the Plant Database, entered Morninglory, nothing' Tried again, entered ipomea, still nothing' Also tried the Latin Lookup, same results????

Sis, you've mispelled it. It's "Ipomoea" (there's an extra o toward the end). The Latin Lookup found 173 entries under Ipomoea.

"Morningglory" (2 g's) found the correct entry.

The Latin Lookup isn't perfect, but it's not bad.

lol, thanks Dave' Here's a thought or perhaps a "opportunity" could you put a "spellcheck in for the data base??? Seriously'''

SYR, you can type the common name into Latin name lookup, and it will pull up all the plants with that common name, as well as their botanical names. Am I missing something (very possible - I've got a serious case of caffeine deprivation going on this morning.)

I just tried typing morninglory into the Latin name lookup and came up with "nada"GV' Did I spell morninglory wrong perhaps??

Sis, here's a tip I've found helpful when doing websearches - either within a site like DG or via Google, et al.

If you don't find results using the entire name, choose one (the most distinctive) word to search on. In this case, the Latin lookup has the common names for morning glories hyphenated - "morning-glory". (I would have never thought to type it with a hyphen.) But when I don't get results, I choose one word - in this case "glory", and sure enough you'll get a lot of hits for morning glory :)

Thanks GV'
