Does anyone have one of those new Coil hoses? Was wondering if they really worked and if they were worth the $$
Coil hose????
a coil hose? what is that?
Shoe, it is a hose that looks like a snake when it is coiled up and even has a rattler on the end instead of a nossel. LOL! Just kidding. I couldn't resist that! Sorry!
I saw them advertised but have trouble believing they really won't kink up or just plain twist up like my phone cord!
I've seen them, mostly on HGTV. I can't imagine how they would work. I get extremely frustrated with my garden hose because I have such a huge space. I drag it and it kinks. Also, these seem very short, so they would only work to water very close to the water source. Am I wrong? If I am, please enlighten me too.
Shoe... here is link to see how the product looks... http://www.watercoilhose.com/ http://www.paragonperformance.com/watercoil.html http://www.trisyn.com/RET-pgs/coilhose.htm
Ming... navigate the site to see prices.
hope that helps... ma vie
Thanks MaVie...they look like they would be nice to water plants on your deck or something. I noticed they were only 3/8th inch diameter which wouldn't carry much water for my use. And I'd have to have the longer ones, which are quite pricey for my blood.
I tend to buy the "non-kinking" hoses (at Walmart). They have a double layer and really don't cut the water off if they get tangled. And of course, I always keep hose-end replacement parts on hand and don't mind repairing. (Plus sometimes it's cheaper to buy a long hose and cut it into smaller ones for places where I only need a short hose...those hose ends are a lifesaver for that.)
I saw them at a home show. Was wondering if I "should of" Guess no one has tried them yet.
I would have to hear some positive feedback from someone I would trust before I bought one......would be wonderful for disabled and weaker gardeners if they are any good.

I have one :-) It's pretty cool. I bought it when the garden.com website went out of business. It was 50% off so I figured I'd try it. It works great. Mine stretches to 25 ft and I use it for the planters & stuff I keep on my porch. It's never kinked and coils right back up when your done. I like it. I've thought of using it in the house for seedlings but I think the pressure is a bit too strong.
Thanks, Susan for the endorsement.....just might try it out now, but like 'Shoe, I would need a longer hose....what is maximum length.....50 ft?

wow! thanks Poppy!
u're very welcome Shoes :). i've seen them used indoors. i do agree w/U. i also buy my hose @ Walmart with extra hose end parts and fix the hose when need be. these coiled hose is too pricey for my pocket book.
they have one on Ebay right now, current price 49cents, $7.99 shipping, it's a 50ft one.

I was just looking at my hose, Lying there in the drive, looking really bad.......Maybe for Mother's day. NO! I want my hubby to make me an arbor. maybe my babydog will go find me one.
Thanks, Susan....the one on HGTV has a reel and and sprayer attachment, and goes completely flat when not in use. Is this the one you are talking about Poppysue?

my issue of Garden.com just came today. they have one on page 12, its 1/2 inch diameter , 50 feet, they want 59.95 plus Shipping, anxious to see the one on eBay to see what it goes for
I have several 50' long ones. I'm thinking of driving a 2 or 3' stake in the ground to store them on (vertically) so they're out of the way when not in use. I really like them, but keep in mind that a 50' one won't actually stretch out to 50' - they still retain some of the "coil" so they're a little shorter.
If you live in the D/FW Texas area, they are sold at Canton fleamarkets for very cheap.
sams club has them for sale a 50' for $20.
REALLY!!!!! At Sam's? have to go check that out!
One thing about my hose ... it has an attached spray wand. It's nice but I can't remove it. I'd look for one that was just the hose if I were to ever get another. It's nice to ba able to put different nozzle attachments on if you need them.
oh! good thing to keep in mind. Thanks
