Spent hours looking at that catalog...trying to figure out all the codes and picking out what I wanted. I was thinking that I would have to see if my friend wanted to split the order because I thought I was spending too much and I discovered that you buy 2 and get one free... which comes out to 33% off( I called them to explain it to me). I have picked out so many plants that I dont even need to purchase from other catalogs.
Picked out 318.00 and only costs 218.00
I am so excited ( can you tell?!)
Janice
Got a Bluestone Perennials catalog!!
Hi, Janice - I "discovered" Bluestone this year, too - and since I was so delighted, I immediately e-mailed my mom tje URL and got her hooked, too!!! (I think my dad and husband are ready to pull the plug on phone or e-mail contact between us!!! When we get our heads together, we come up with all sorts of ways to spend money!)
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), I didn't find Bluestone until I had already blown a lot of my budget on other things, but I did have enough left to buy a couple Clethra bushes and some Pink Pewter Lamium plants....I can't wait for them to come in!!!!
Hi Go-
I have other things out in the wings.... thanks goodness I xcld the Springhill order of 400.00 when I discovered they arent a good company.
Plan on just sending the stuff I receive from the others back as they come in. ( sure they are all the crummy companies.) Dont even know what I have going out there. Really should have kept track. It just makes the winter go by a little faster when your buying plants.
Glad I didnt pay for anything yet! Just wish I had more land to plant more plants!!!
Waiting is a terrible thing :(
Have fun
Janice
You two should be very happy with Bluestone, I have ordered from them for years. Their plants are small, but very healthy and take right off once planted. Only once did I receive one three pack that were very sickly, got in touch with the company and they sent a three pack replacement to me. Their shrubs are nice and healthy too.
how do you get their catalog-is there a site?
Yep...here it is....and their plants are all online, too - so a catalog is nice, but not necessary.

Also sent away for White Flower Farms. Read they were also a good company. I found them very expensive. The fact that Bluestone offers 3 plants for a little more AND they are also offering buy 2 get 1 free ( Buy one 3 pack and get one 3 pack free) is way too tempting for me. Who can resist a bargin?

Janice, you might check out Windrose Nursery, too if you're interested in shrubs, trees and/or vines. Here's their URL: http://www.windrosenursery.com/
(Geez, I feel like I'm aiding and abetting here!!!LOL!)
I think they have a nice selection of plants; for example, they have the Schizophragma hydrangoides 'Roseum' (Climbing Hydrangea) that I've searched high and low for; and their prices are nice too - $8 each for the hydrangeas and some daphnes that I ordered.
Their philosophy is kind of like Bluestone; the plant sizes are smallish, but it helps keep the prices down. And I personally think that smaller-sized/younger plants do better over the long term, even though you don't get the immediate impact like you do with larger sizes.
Hi Go
Just checked out the site and I cant believe I went to a vine selection and I hit vines for shady areas! Have been looking for that! They sound nice so I called and left a message for them to call me so I can order as I dont like to do the credit card over the internet ( too many "cleaver" "people" out there.
Thanks for the lead. (sp?)

I love Bluestone, have ordered from them for 3 years. I always order early to take advantage of the sale prices. I also like White Flower Farm, kind of pricey but excellent plants. For bulbs, my favorite is Van Bourgendien. But for spring bulbs, you can't beat John Scheepers. I saw them rated in Consumer's Union's magazine, Consumer's Reports. Not only did they get the best rating, but they got the Best Buy. My first ones will be blooming this spring so I am dying to see how they do. For seed, my favorite is Park's and for unusual plants my favorite is Wayside. I also had bad luck with Spring Hill. The only thing I got from them that I still have is the purple elephant's ear. But I don't order as much as I did, because of the great trades here!
Oh No! I can't get one because I live in Canada! :(
Woodspirit, I'm hoping that we'll have enough bulb fans this fall to co-op an order from Van Engelen, the wholesale part of J. Scheeper's. (The best of all possible worlds - great bulbs at wholesale prices, woohoo!)
