I don't know which forum to post this question, so trying this one as it's about talking about gardens.
I saw this plant in a nursery this weekend "Coprosma bauerii" Autumn Splendor. I loved it, but would like to know more about it as it was not cheap. Does anyone know about this plant...or do you know where I can get info on it or even buy it online?
Thanks, Donna
Need info on this plant
SoCal
You may find it listed unde Coprosma repens, C. baueri is a synonym, also know as the Mirror Plant or Looking Glass plant.
RHS information:
Large shrub or small tree from New Zealand, fleshy, glossy deep green leaves with obovoid, orange red berries in late summer-early autumn. Hardy down to 32F.
Donna, I've never heard of it. Here's the entry in Botany.com about it: http://www.botany.com/coprosma.html
(It looks like most sources spell the species as baueri, not the double i ending?)
B and T World Seeds was the only recognized source for seeds that I found (some other sources weren't familiar to me - all in Europe and Australia)
San Marcos Grower's website had it listed, and they'd be a bit closer to home for you, if you want to check out their site, they may have a local grower listed :)
Wow, you guys are good. You both came up with exactly what I wanted and needed to know about this plant. It is really an interesting looking bush. It has small Green, pink, orange, yellow leaves and they twist alittle. The leaves are thicker than normal, almost like a succulant, but it's not one. The nursery is asking $25. for it, I thought that was a little steep, so I am going to investigate alittle more. I mostly wanted info on it and you provided that for sure. I have alot of perennials and annuals for my new garden, but need some bones too. I am not one that likes what every neighbor has and that they sell at the local Home Depot or Walmart.
Thanks again for the help, Donna
