Seed Saver's Flower & Herb exchange

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I got my catalog from the Flower and Herb Exchange in yesterday's mail. All I can say is WOWSA!! Wish I had it about 6 months ago. I counted 51 listings of morning glories alone. 53 poppy listings! I've really been a good girl and haven't traded or ordered any more seeds the last few weeks but I think I might fall off the wagon after checking this out.

The F&H exchange has an address on the www.seedsavers.org page.

Hi Poppysue!

What are the herbs like in there? I'm really interested in doing a nice sized herb garden.

Thanx!

Loads & loads of herbs. Especially if you have interest in medicinals.

I'm confused by the WebPage-do you just sign up as a FHE member to receive the catalog? I can't live with the thought that their are 44 varieties of morning glories that I don't have!

Thanks!

Yes. There's a membership fee to join the FHE. Here's the link & the details
http://www.seedsavers.org/wholepgs/Mainpgs/fhemembership.htm

Membership is $10 for US residents and it operates just like the SSE.

Hey, PoppySue...looks like you found the thread you were searching for (I think I'm following you around DG today!)

BTW, I joined the FHE a few days ago (after reading this post), and can't wait to get my catalog. Thanks for the great tip!

I thought KarmaHT might be interested to know there's quite a selection of brugs in here. I wish I could grow more of them but I just don't have the space to bring them inside.

Thanks for the clarification, Poppysue! Question-is this strictly for exchange, or can you buy flower seeds via this route? (I don't have alot to exchange, but I'm always on the hunt in acquire!) Thanks!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

You can buy seeds directly from the listed members. If you are a listed member seeds are $1.00 / a pack. Non-listed members it's $2.00/ a pack.

Thanks so much, Poppysue! Their website is my next stop! (Gotta get those morning glories!)

Oh, I'm sorry, I do have one more question (last one, I promise!) Does listed member just mean you agree to be listed, or do you have to have seeds to exchange to be a listed member? If there's someplace on their website I should see this, let me know-sorry to be a pest with all my questions!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Listed member means ..... you have seeds listed in the current year book. So if you just became a member (like me), you won't be able to list any seeds until next year. You're not a pest. I'm sure your questions are helpful to others too. I ordered a few seed packs from a couple of the members. I haven't got them yet but I'm excited to see how they arrive.

Thanks SO much, Poppysue! Can't wait to get my catalog!
