Kitchener, ON(Zone 5A)

hmm I have apricot foxglove, columbine, calla's up already and in pots but not showing their noses yet are phlox, liatris, joe pye weed, japanese iris and trumpet vine.

In the freezer I have clematis, in the refrigerator I have lavatera, coneflower, and trefoil, and for fall sowing I started money plant, poppies, stock, sweet william, larkspur, delphinium, forget-me-nots, snaps, astrantia major, eryngium, scabiosa, silene, ligularia, angelica gigas, adonis, belamcanda, day lilies, lychnis, liatris, lupin, asiatic lilies, pardancanda, sidalcea, canna, calendula, adonis, oneothera, geum, bulbinella, - actually, some of this is in my "walk-in" crawl space which is where I hang out when I'm not here. It's where all my tables and lights are set up. The stuff I fall planted has all germinated and is growing very well except for the snaps. I'm quite pleased especially since I'm pretty clueless about these things but I'm having lots of fun...vic

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Eyes how's that chilean glory flower doing? Has is germinated?

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

...barely showing it's sprout...but then I know nothing about that one...just a trial. Ya want some of the seeds, 'cause you're the expert there?

ohhh - now I am excited to start planting. I dont have anything planted yet, was waiting to see if I can get some growlights and heating mats. Do you all have grow lights?
I think I will get busy and work planting this weekend.
I'll post what I have plantd after the weekend.
Does this mean spring is almost here ????

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks Eyes - but I got some. I was just curious about how easyily they germinated.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Spring Hill, FL(Zone 9a)

just planted in flats Galahad Delphinium,Jacobs ladder and Tibetan blue poppy. In the ground at Spring Hill are seedlings of Jaune Flamme and Cherokee purple tomatoes. Don't know if they will ripen before 5/1 when we head to NY for our summer "vacation" but if not the neighbors will have tomatoes!
On or about March 1st I will be starting flats of Marigolds, tomatoes, zinnias and petunias for transport to NY where a large new flowerbed awaits.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh, gosh - let's see if I can do this from memory:

Pardancanda, Pardanthopsis and Belamcanda all sprouted sometime this weekend (yeah!!!) Several different types of Dianthus are all chugging right along. Cordyalis lutea have already been potted up and are coming right along. Corydalis rosea sprouted within the past 24 hours.

Polemonium and Bellis perennis are all sturdy little plants.

Three types of Echinacea - purpurea 'Magnus' and 'White Swan' and E. tennesseeinsis are all poking their heads up and greeting the world, as are Boltonia 'Snowbank' and Dwarf Purple Aster.

Outside I've got Primula japonica, Ligularia, Astrantia, Rodgersia, Erigeron, Helleborus and Achemilla mollis, and half of the Scutellaria incana (the other half sprouted in the GH)

Other slow-starters are Astilbe (recently came out of freezing), Lysimachia, Sisyrinchium, Thalictrum, Eupatorium and Filipendula rubra.

Oh, and tomatoes. I just potted up 1/4 of my tomato seedlings (destined for sale); another 1/4 will be potted up tomorrow, and the remaining half will be sowed as soon as my seed starting flat is available again, LOL.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

I'm afraid I start things later, since I can set much out until June 1. I planted lobelia in January, and it's up and growing. I have some meconopsis grandis coming up, and it's doing so well I'm beginning to wonder if there was a lettuce in the wood pile! I've begun some primula, several types, and crossing my fingers, since I have limited experience with them...got some good germination tips from Dave's Garden & the data base. I just planted some artchokes, and today I'll start some leeks. I'll plant them to a plug tray or two, or three...I just can't help myself. Of course, all this is in my basement under lights. I purchases lots of new seed this year, so it will be a challenge to see how I fare with all the new varieties!..WZ

Temple, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh me, where do I start. I planted all my things under grow lights about 3 weeks ago. I have tons of rutger tomatoes, jalapeno's, serrano peppers, Hyacinth Bean Vines, Marigold's,Mexican Hats, Castor Beans, 5 types of Morning Glory's, wanted a head start for the mail box and light post,Just planted Witch Hazel, Pomegrante Trees, Oriental Poppy's, California Poppy's, Zinniz's, Sanguinea Brugs, Datura Tree Candida, White Datura, Several kinds of herbs, and more!!! My garage looks like a jungle and poor DH doesn't have a work table anymore. Atleast not until after Good Friday! That is when I plant everything. I still have oregano, Yarrow and Lavender growing outside now in my garden. They got bit back a few times but came right back. I also have rosemary at my old house that hasn't died from the cold in 3 years. I wish everything was that hardy!!!

Thanks, Traci

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Hello fellow propagators! Got the leeks in yesterday, and most of the violas and pansies. Today I'll start the petunias, as well. I start so much from seed indoor that I store the seeds in a tote. Inside the tote are 1-1/2 gal. ziplock bags that are labeled according to when they should be planted. They are filed from 22 weeks (til last frost) on down to direct sowing seeds. This way, I can lift the bag of the week and get to work! Since most everything we grow has to be started indoors, you can imagine the size of my seed starting operation. As of now, I have about nine flats of seeds under domes and lights, and each of those flats will create many more flats when they are ready for transplant. By the end of February, I'll have the basement full of flats and I'll be warming up the shed, as well. By April 1, I'll be in my greenhouse with the oil stove going full bore! As for now, it is exciting to hear what all of you have well under way, and it's a promise of things to come for a northern gardener...WZ
