I was wondering how soon I can plant grass seed? We recently had some sewer line work done. Now I need to get some grass growing so the yard isn't a muddy mess every time it rains.

Sharon, you sound like us with the sewer line stuff. We had ours done in December and what a mess! Get in touch with you county agent on what seed you can plant in your area right now. We are sowing Centipede and other warm weather grasses right now, but we are zone 9. Hope this helps, Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Good idea. I'll do that. Zone 5 here, still a little chilly. Right now it's just a muddy mess. Blah! My favorite grass is zoysa. It's still brown right now. But it's like walking on carpet when it's green. Maybe I'll just wait till the local nursery gets some fresh zoysa sod in. I'll just have to wear mud boots to work in the yard.

Zoysa is a no-no here. It is very pretty, but hates our cilmate. And yep, mud boots are our choice of shoes here! LOL! LIsa

It must have been the Year of the Septic System Work! Us, too - we have a huge muddy spot in the middle of our front yard.

We also need to have a large tree removed from that area (trying to prevent future problems with the system!) so I've been trying to get DH to hold off on planting any seed until we get the tree down - it's just going to get torn up again!

I'm so glad to get mine fixed despite the aftermath. I had a sink hole that would get wider every time it rained. I hope that's the last I see of that sink hole! My yard was disappearing!
