Nice weather - what did you do?

Hamburg/Pinnebog, MI(Zone 6a)

Have you taken advantage of these nice few days of 50+ degree weather. I took the Christmas lights down, trimmed my apple and pear tree, weeded and straw mulched my strawberry mound that I didn't get to before winter came, and tomorrow will fertilize my Sq. Ft. garden boxes and build a couple of hot boxes and might even set my hoop house up.

To feel the dirt in my hands is a sure cure all for the winter time blues!

Oh yes Tom' Grabbed my tools and pruned the fruit trees for starters' Did some transplanting before the sky falls again next week, lol' Now,I'm savoring the warm evening and that big ole moon above me'

Started turning over dirt for a wildflower garden. DH offered to till it for me but I just wanted to dig with the shovel. Felt good to be digging in the dirt. vic

Hi TomK,
What a beautiful day outside today.
Sunny and in the '50's...Woo-hoo!
I moved lots of crushed
stone today
that I'm redoing my garden walkways with.
Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer
here & sunny again.
What a bonus for us Michiganders! :-)

Well I got caught up with garden design sites today and missed the wonderful outside in the 60s!! But Yesterday I cut back the lantana and tidied up the front beds. Most amazing thing - the Rosemary was unscathed after all the severe frost and ice storms and the buddlias still have their grey leaves. Whilst other plants that I thought would survive, look just awful!! Pyracantha to name just one!!

I cleaned house taday, Yuck but it does look nice now. But it was sure nice today, I can't wait till all my snow is gone and i can go play in the dirt. :)

It was nice here too, in the 60's and going to be for the next few days! :)

I chipped up all the leaves that I didn't get to this fall and added them to gardens. I chipped up all the tree branches from the tree we cut down this fall. Cleaned out the pond, sowed several flats of seedlings.

Today I am going to prune the grapes and keep cleaning up the yard. And finish up a new bed I started this summer. Sow more seeds, LOL. I will be soooo ready to start digging when the time finally comes to be able to plant.

Well I was at WRESTLING with my son Teig who went 5-0 on the day.
I did go outside and walk a few times! Was wishing to be gardening. I told a parent "im going out and play come get me before Teig next match!"
Today Im going out in the garden, greenhouse, orchard and everywhere that its not to muddy!!!!!!!!! =]

I reburied the clematis roots that the puppies dug out, twice......................

Actually, we still have quite a bit of snow and because of that it really hasn't gotten up much above 45, and, with the wind, it's a bit nippy for any real gardening.

It was another nice day yeterday and going to be again today.

I finished up a bed I started late this summer. Sowed about 10 more flats of seeds. Did some weeding and cleaning up.

Today I'll do some more weeding, its easy right now while the ground is soft. And do the pruning I didn't get to yesterday.

I slept so good last night, can't wait to be out there every day again!!! Really needed that garden workout :)

Since I am looking forward to starting seeds again after a long stretch of time not doing it, I am getting all my supplies ready and cleaning out an area next to the windows in our old greenhouse (We haven't used it for many years and it is now just a garden storage shed.) to put my babies once they have sprouted. I found the neatest rack last fall at a garage sale and am going to start them all inside the house on that rack and then move them to the greenhouse after that. I am also cleaning up limbs that have fallen, digging up some things that I no longer want in the yard, and on and on and enjoying the nice days tremendously. We are even doing a little touch up painting on things that need it.
