Cala gave me some plants last summer and they are all starting to show some new growth while basking in my dining room.
The mandavilla was cut back when I brought it in this fall and is now starting to show little buds.
The fuschias I just cut back ,as they have been blooming all winter. There is new growth showing along the stems,so I cut back to there.
I have an asparagus fern that has shed and dropped those nasty little needles all winter and I finally gave it a haircut today.
My bouganvillea is about finished blooming and is starting to shed the bracts.
I have a freshly rooted clematis and red honeysuckle that are starting to show growth at the soil line. The cuttings were taken from my mom's old house on 9/11 (we moved her that day)
Nothing has been fertilized all winter and I'm needing advice on when and what to give them.I'm good at veggies, but pretty much tolerate houseplants till the very first day that I can get them out of the house. Most everything can be kept alive till spring, but I really like these plants and want to give them a good head start.I'll be thinking about putting everything on the porch but the bouganvillea in mid March.
Need suggestions and opinions.
When to fertilize?
I don't know about anyone else but I don't fertilize any of my plants that are going outside in the spring until I take them out. I don't want them growing any bigger until they are ready to leave their temporary indoor surroundings. My African violets, my episcas, my one orchid and a few little things that always stay on my kitchen window ledge are different. I fertilize them on a regular basis.
