I kept my potato vine potatoes in my coldest room and now they're starting to sprout, especially Blackie. Will this hurt them, I'm not near ready to start them.

Where can I buy potatoes vine potatoes?
I bought Blackie last year but pitched it after the frost killed the foilage. I also had a chartruse one but I don't recall the name of it.

Marguarita (sp) is the green one. I didn't buy the potatoes, I bought the plant, and it puts out potatoes in the dirt. I got several from each plant. I'm thinking about starting this one soon so I can get several going good before spring, remind me and I'll send you a plant.
Thanks Bonnie
I never even thought to look for potatoes when I pulled them out
Its funny you never see the just the potatoes advertised in the catalogs.
Paul
They ought to be okay, tiG. You can always pot them up and put them in a bright room until they're ready to go outside. :o)
I feel just awful, someone here had written a long email about how they took the one potato and by spring had enough to do their 'whole' yard. And I deleted the wrong one!! If I want to take one potato and make more than one plant, how do I go about it? There's something about cutting off the potato each time it sprouts?? Please help, I'm hoping to turn my five potatoes into 50 plants!!!
I would suggest you cut the potato into pieces, leaving one eye in each piece, and then planting them.....same as a regular potato.
Owen
Sure, works great with begonias, another tuber. When you lift your potatos in the fall, tiG, you'll might have some babies growing down under the soil. :)
