How did you pick your DG name part 2.

Elizabethton (Stoney, TN(Zone 6b)

Granny Lois = I am a fairly new grandmother and my name is Lois. (I'll bet nobody would have ever guessed how I chose my name ... it's just sooooo creative!)

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Granny, you are a card!

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

I came up with the name a few years ago when trying to find a name for use on AOL. Nutcase, Bonkers, Crazy Lady, Fruitcake, and Brenda were all taken! I tried other names like Beauty, Sheer Delight, Wonderful, Magnificent....but the computer made groaning noises and gave me error messages when I tried to use them, It did let me use the screen name Stinkweed for awhile...but somehow that seemed to hit a bit close to home...so I came up with Zanymuse.

Midland, PA

Brad is my first sons name and CJ was supposed to be my second childs nickname. (Guess I'll have to change it once the new one arrives and has a name) But I'm really Pam

Spring Hill, FL(Zone 9a)

thats neat Pebble I don't suppose your married to a Barney?
tiG if I used my daughters names I'd be CindyandDeborahsandKarensdad...too much typing although I bet it wouldn't be taken!

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Kikisdad, no....my husband's name is Taylan....not even close.

Allen Park, MI(Zone 6a)

My name is Paul and I like to grow plants hence the name.

Paul

Auburn, NY(Zone 5b)

I've always been Sand or San to my family(besides Sandy was taken and I'm only called Sandra when someone is mad at me)and like alot of DGers I wanted to keep it simple so I would remember it!

Crossville, TN

Hey./..this is GREAT! Mystic, you know that all "inquiring minds want to know", and this helps a lot.

Roadrunner....HMMM...DH and I loved to be on the go...so when I first got a computer (in Fla) it wouldn't let me use roadrunner...so shortened it to rdrnr...still use that...but now I use roadrunner for everything. By the way...I HAD Roadrunner...BEFORE they came out with the wireless cable service called Roadrunner! Wish I had registered it!! That's me...always miss the boat! LOL RR/Jo

Cordova, MD

WEll- that's easy- it's my initals... I picked that because it was my initals long time ago before I got married... then my initals changed... then I got divorced... then I got re-married a little over a year ago and my inital went back to the way they were when I was a little younger (he,he)... so I'm glad to have my initals back the way they were- even ifit took two husbands (he,he) to get them back!!!- JSS

Cullman, AL(Zone 7a)

I was the first "Doris" to join so it worked and I didn't know people didn't use their real names. You see, I was not only a novice at gardening but also a novice at computers/internet and I'm still learning both!

Joshua Tree, CA(Zone 8b)

Well awhile back , I replied the first part of this thread.
I rented the movie 2001, and watched it again .(I signed up in 2001) And it was hal "9" 000
not "5"000.
It was a spoof on the movie. It was a computer in the movie name hal 9000. I got the # wrong!(Silly me!)
BUT I am glad I did. BECAUSE he was a naughty computer
Im not!
That computer was BAAAAAAAAAD and Dave in the movie had to disable him. Get the premise here , Dave, 2001 , yeah, OK I know, maybe I OVER thought this one!!! LOL
WELL People seem to remember the name. I assumed at the time that Michele was taken already
So I have stuck with it.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
AND GOD BLESS US EVERYONE
LET 2002 BE A BETTER YEAR

Quoting:
Tir-Na-nOg is a very beautiful land. In Tir-Na-nOg the leaves don't fall from the trees or die. The flowers bloom all year round, and you can smell the scent of them miles away. If you are ever lucky enough to go to Tir-Na-nOg you would see young, happy people there.
If you spent five days in Tir-Na-nog, it would be about three or more years in Ireland. Tir-Na-nOg has a stream going through it and green hills all over. The people there have beautiful clothes, and you would eat off of gold plates and drink out of crystal glasses.

For entertainment the people would play tin whistles or play gold harps. The scenery is beautiful and the sun shines most of the time. The people tell wonderful exciting stories, and the children play lots of games.

Tir-Na-nOg means "THE LAND OF EVER YOUNG."

Brushing away the cobwebs from this very very very old thread - and saying that my name here is also an email name of long standing. Why no "e" on wannadanc?.....well, back when it was AOL time for me, the limit of letters you could use was 9. Later, it seemed silly to change it - and, in fact, I am glad I didn't. No one else spells it "my way" - LOL. Do I like to dance? NOPE! So the whole thing is entirely strange, as am I!

NW Qtr, AR(Zone 6a)

Good-ness! ..

Half (or more) of the folks that posted to this thread .. are no longer 'here'.

I'm stunned ..

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Hey I'm still here Magpye and welcome to any new comers , these threads have been such fun. It's great to see how everybody got their names.

NW Qtr, AR(Zone 6a)

'Howdy', Mystic ..

I've posted the origins of my own 'user name' .. on another one of your 'how didja' threads ... but have just recently found the others (and the time) .. to take a good read-thru.

Wowsers! Jes shy of 6 years of dedication! Quite a celebration for ya, Mystic. My early congrats on the 'anniversary' .. and my late 'happy birthday' to ya! (DG's a bit too large to keep up with, these days!) .. hee

And now Mystic is about to enter the best time of her life.....GRANDMOTHERHOOD!!! Congratulations, friend. Jo...a GREAT GM....

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

This was very fun to read! I'll have to go back to the other threads now. (BTW, I chose my DG name because I'm not very creative... LOL)

Congrats on grandmotherhood and a great series of threads mystic :)

I could have sworn I put myself on this back in 2002, but I can't find it, so...........

I tried to use nightingale, which is my surname, but it was already taken. So I use philomel because that's an olde englishe word for nightingale

Humansville, MO(Zone 6a)

This was a fun read when i join in march of 2001 the name dave seem to be taken and not thinking it would make any diference DG was just a little site then that had a fun group of gardeners so i just add an adress of a store we owned at the time so dave 719 show up

Glen Burnie, MD(Zone 7a)

because last year when I signed up, I was new to gardening. But I didn't like the way "newbie" looked, so I spelled it noobie gardener.....

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Wow you been busy here, thanks everybody for the birthday, early anniversary and the grandmother well wishes. I have to admit I'm more excited about the being an grandmother than the others. lol

It's great to see some newer folks posting how they picked their names and I see an oldie even snuck in there as well.

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Phil,

I must admit I was excited to see a DGer from France on here...and then didn't see any new posts from you when I found Dave's (Jan 06) until this thread! Glad to see you are back. My geneology goes back to France on my Dad's side.

Crossville, TN

Tir....Philomel has a most interesting story to tell...I want to go visit her place so badly!! Maybe some day!

Check this out. Jo

Thanks Jo!

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Hi Tir_Na_Nog (love the name :) I go a little quiet when very busy, but I'm usually hanging around somewhere - often over in the European forum.....
Your link with France sounds interesting - do you know which area your Dad's family were from?

Hi Jo, thanks for the link :)
All's going very well here and I've been busy putting in new ponds - I love water and it can be very dry and hot here. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/608354/
Hope all's well with you?

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

I'll dmail you. =)

Crossville, TN

I love your pond! The perfect place to sit and have Tea. Jo

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Yes, I think so too (and breakfast ;))
Although at the moment we'd fry - it's 33C in the shade!!

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

First initial M, middle initial S, and Ank is the first part of my last name. Not very creative I'm afraid :-(

Shenandoah Valley, VA(Zone 6b)

"LynnCanGrowIt"

....Duh.....

;-)

Las Cruces, NM(Zone 8a)

Our house has an adobe brick exterior, and adobe bricks are basically made of mud...and the adobe is currently deteriorating and looking very old and crumbly...so...

I didn't think about it being so long for folks to type, sorry about that. You can shorten it anyway you'd like and I'll answer.

You're just lucky I didn't call myself oldcrumblymudhousewithholesinthewall!!
