Hi Tyson, this new look is rather hard to navigate. When I tried to look at my watched threads it brought up all the individual old posts from one certain thread which is not what I was looking for. Just to find the thread I post on most of the time was quite difficult to find. Most recent threads includes something from long ago. And I just went to my preferences to see if I could change the way the page looks and that is no longer there.

I did use your link and sent some of these issues and a spam report.

So on my page it has articles, guides, today's features, community discussion which is mostly spam. I don't want these on my page - if I want them I will look for them. And best of all the forums are gone. The forum I visit daily is hidden.

I don't know who thought this was a good idea but it isn't. Even when you look at most recent it fails miserably.

I agree,,,,way too hard to find what I want! Improvements are not always needed and this is one of them.

This is a mess. Please give us back what we had. New posts on watched threads are no longer showing up. What showed for me as "new" was from 2007. Like I said.......a mess.

One more thing - is Parking Lot still private?

I'll go over all the reported issues so far and file bug reports where needed.

I just tested out the forums and everything seems to be working as before.

Recent posts/Active Threads also show posts and threads as intended.

Regarding Spam: Yes, we get hits with waves of spam which we are trying our best to reduce the amount of incoming spam. Unfortunately, no spam prevention method is %100 effective.

Don't like it. Not bringing up if there are new posts to the morning glory forum.
Thats what I want to see and now its not there

Can you describe where you would normally be looking for new posts in the morning glory forum?

Specific pages and click actions will help narrow this issue down.. or anything else to help describe the issue.

Are you talking about the little red dot to denote there are new messages?

What a freaking mess you've created Why? It seemed to be working fine. Are you getting more revenue from all the spam you're exposing us to?

The recent site update had no direct updates for the forums. What in your opinion has recently changed/broke?

We do have a spam issue that we are always trying to combat but that's been happening for awhile now.

Tyson, I will try to explain from my point of view. If I go to forums there is a Unread Watched Threads - these are all from 2007. I would guess this is not what anyone is looking for today. And I do not know how you can say no changes were made to forums.

Next is Watched threads, this thread is there and Coffee & HWYD Dec 2024 is there and then down the list are past Coffee & HWYD thread and a few others all the way back to January 2018. I also don't think this is what anyone is looking for.

Next is Most Recent Threads. There are three there - Leggy Ant 12/02, Long Antennae 12/02 and Coffe & HWYD Dec 24 which says Just Now. According to a different watched threads the last post was 2 hours ago.

So how do we see when there is a new post to a thread? You mentioned a red dot and I haven't seen one.

Prior to this update I was able to go to my preferences and change my home page here to how I wanted it. Today that doesn't exist.

And is Parking Lot still private?

Tyson, I look for any new posts to the morning glory forum from my home page
It always has told me if there are new posts and I can go right to them by clicking
on skip to new.. but now my home page is not what comes up when i click on Daves Garden, I don;t mean to sound hateful but I hate it that that has changed I don;t want to have to look for my fave forum. :-)

I don't like the new format. You know what's different, and obviously we like the old format. Some people are telling me that they have to log in each time they open DG. I don't have that issue, thankfully, but don't like the "new look" either.

So the spam here is gone but now I think we are all wanting our questions answered. and my next question is this going to remain the way it is? I am a paid subscriber and I am going to guess that none of this was asked for by a subscriber - paid or unpaid.

I guess I will be the squeaky wheel. So what is Just Now supposed to mean to us? And how do we see that there is a new post on a thread? And why is DG bringing up posts from years ago? And why is there no link for forums on the page that Dg opens to? And where is the red dot?

I hope someone returns with some better info. Changing every single thing and with no information is ridiculous - unless you want us all to leave. Why are there three things under forums - all with 3 posts? And who in the world wants to go back to a thread in 2018 and/or 2007? So your so called update is bringing us back in time? Is this what I am paying for?

We have discussed all the things you have brought up and are making some adjustments to make sure the new design provides a way for you access the information you want to see such as:

1. A notification when you receive a new D-Mail.
2. When a watched thread has a new post.
3. Your favorite forum topics.


While we iron things out, here are some workarounds:

Accessing the forums:

1. From the homepage https://davesgarden.com/
Hover over "Community" at the top and select "Forums" in the green bar below.
2. The "View All" button located on the homepage in the yellow "Community Discussion" bar.

Viewing Watched Threads: (We are aware you want to see a notification when a watched thread has a new post - we are working on it)

1. From Your Profile: click on "View the threads you are "watching".

Side info: The Red Dot: This used to show in forum topics that had new activity since your last visit. This feature is not working and a fix will be implemented.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the forum topics list, you'll see the description of what the "Leaf" and the "Red Dot" icons mean.

So far I have not seen any red dots. The Just Now is ridiculous. I appreciate you are going to do something but I am not sure you realize that Just Now doesn't replace the time of the post. And again I do not want to see how to watch old threads. And I don't want to see spiders. If I want to see an insect I will search and if I want to see a plant I will search. I shouldn't have to search for a post I am watching. To say nothing has changed... well that isn't really true is it.

Again this morning I have to go searching for this thread. What a PIA. I am not in the mood to jump through your hoops to tell you there is so much spam that this post didn't show up. There is more spam here and https://davesgarden.com/community/forums/recent
Dose anyone really think there are those here who want to see posts from years and years ago? That would be something good for your search option.

Would you please remove that section of posts called Unread Watched Threads. So far they are really old. And most important there are some that bring up difficult things like losing loved ones whether people or pets.

I don't see a preference where it gives me the option to choose "watched threads" in my profile. I want my start page to be "Communities/Discussion Forums", not Guides. I don't see a way to choose my start page.

I just went to read a dmail and lo and behold I had two new dmails. Except that one was from Dec 3rd and was still showing new.

I am going to guess that currently DG is just dragging it's feet after what I would call a horrendous "update". I will ask the question again - what is the UNREAD WATCHED THREADS for?

And I guess DG doesn't know what the time is - something that was new a few days ago is higher up on the list than something that has a new post today.

And again - what in the world is the JUST NOW supposed to mean?

I would have hoped by now that someone would come to this thread and share an actual update about what is going on. I have to wonder yet again why DG does all these changes and then has no quick way to undo what you have done. How about an update on the update!!

Maybe you can start with fixing how we can determine our own preferences instead of someone else's.

Maybe you should do some polls to gauge what needs updating.

And I have noticed that the site has been really, really slow.

Not too surprised that there is no company presence here. But I am disappointed. So who is responsible for creating this mess that is hiding the things we are looking for?

Wow, 6 hours and the spams are still there. What is actually going on here? Is anyone working on anything? Is anyone going to answer our questions? What do we actually get with our paid subscriptions? Hello is anyone out there?

Now they need to fix the update they did about a week ago.
My homepage no longer shows threads I am watching, and it's very hard to go searching for them.

DG, please stop fixing things that aren't broken.
I don't have a computer, I only use my phone. I have no idea where the Gmail tab went to.
Please put things back like they were.
None of your so called updates have ever worked properly, and it takes months to put them back.

I guess posting here is a lost cause. Why isn't anyone answering questions? And why in the world am I pointing out all the spam you allow on the site without even a thank you. I don't work for DG so maybe you need to get someone to do it.

Trying to find what I am looking for is still excruciating. Does anyone at DG care? Is anyone there???? I asked this earlier but I guess I will ask again. Who thought this was a great idea? Who asked to the first thing you see when you click on forums is UNREAD WATCHED THREADS? Who wanted that to happen?

Elsie, all those that are showing for me as unread watched threads are from 2006. ALL of them. I really don’t much care what happened 18 years ago. I want the current ones only. And they all say “just now.”

Anna, if you can create a bookmark of this thread you can access it without any problem. And I think it states the date and how many hours ago. But if you look around and find it it may not. I have been posting here almost every day since there is no one answering questions.

Wow, it is so wonderful to come to DG and try to find the thread you want to see. It has been really hard. Now it is among all the spam threads about drugs. How is it that DG cannot block any of these posts even by the names of the drugs?

I just don't understand why things have to be updated, when nothing is wrong. When I click to open DG, there are no list of threads I am watching like it used to be. I am tired of trying to find it.

And now I just got an email from DG saying I have 2 Dmails and all of them have a red Yes meaning they are all new. If I have two new dmails I cannot see them.
