My clematis is growing like crazy and I don't want to trim it and throw away the trimmings; so I want to propagate the clippings. I'm reading suggestions to use sterilized soil. Is this necessary and if so please recommend brands and where to buy them. Thanks. lydia
Propagating Clematis
Seed starting mix generally is sterile. I often use it for cuttings too.
Thank you very much. I will buy seed starting mix. I am reading articles on how to sterilize soil which seems overly complicated (boiling, oven, etc), and that sterile soil is a myth; that once you open the bag, it is contaminated anyway. Looking forward to propagating my clematis.
