Best/Worse/What didI learn today?come sit spell, where friends meet..always an extra chair
James Alexander Ostergar arrived last night weighing 8lbs, 2oz and 21 inches long. Mom and baby are good and the other two little ones, Eloise and George are ecstatic because Grandma is there. Kris, my SIL and the two boys, 27 and 25 and making Thanksgiving dinner. SIL is doing the turkey and the boys are doing the rest. They are even making pies.
Today was a beautiful day. I put away the portable fans. One from my bedroom and one from the back patio. I do not think they will be needed any more this year. I have ceiling fans but some times I just need the air blowing right at me.
When I woke up this morning it was terrorists car bombing, by noon it was two people stole a car trying to dry through the border crossing. Later in the afternoon, they are still investigating but now feel it was not a terrorist attach. I get alerts on my I watch so that is how I get all of the news. Very seldom turn on the TV.
Betty so pleased you are taking it easy. I probably will not see the new great grandson until after the first of the year. Her husband is in his residency and she has 5 months maternity leave. He is at his residency many hours so I can see her coming and staying for a week soon after the new year. Easy because the other two children are not in school yet.
Pat, HD here has many different decorative pine trees. I have a Norway pine that will be 4 years old this December. Just likes where it is at. I am getting two of the spruce trees. I think they are $25 a piece. I grow them for the winter and spring and then my brother comes down from Reno, takes them home and plants them. He has about 5 acres, so he has plenty of room to plant them.
Pat, when my Realtor got through staging the last home we sold, I didn't want to move. One thing she did was put a lamp in the corner of our master bedroom. It brighten up the whole room. Keep an eye on the house you and Marie liked. It may fall out.
I posted the post prior because I needed to look back and knew I would lose my post.
You all have a wonderful Thursday and friends in US, have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my US friends :)
Congratulations, Great Grandma Sharon!
He has until end of the day Nov 26th to get his stuff. I haven't heard for a 3rd time, about him getting his stuff. I suppose he's given up after the other 2 tries when he had vehicle issues. The RCMP said they weren't going to wait for an hour with him while he got his stuff, and they suggested a moving company. Maybe he's forgotten all of what's his, after all it's been 2 years since he was here last. Certainly towing the motorhome would be a $$ issue for him. Oh well.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. While it has been a difficult year for some we all have something to be thankful for.
Around 6 am a parade of 10 wild turkeys strutted down the lane past my house and into the bush. Maybe they thought they were next for someone's dinner. lol
Maybe the turkeys thought if they had not been harvested by now, they were safe THIS Thanksgiving??
Congratulations on the new baby Sharon.
Susan, let's hope he just gives it all a pass. I don't feel sorry for him. These are the natural consequences of his behavior.
Happy Thanksgiving to my US friends, have a wonderful one. My Canada friends, enjoy your day. I am going to go for a drive & then resume painting.
I called the RCMP (Constable Gabriele) & he was planning on calling him today anyway. He said that Bob's been sick. I told him, it's been over 2 years that he's been out of the house. He's going to tell him - end of the day Sunday & he has to have his stuff OUT of here.
I'm not looking forward to having to haul everything out of the motorhome, to spend the extra time selling everything. $$ wouldn't hurt, but it's the TIME it takes........... oh well, it will be what it will be.

Afternoon and Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
Congratulation Sharon on the arrival of James, that is a good weight, glad mom and baby are doing well and that all are pitching in with the cooking and baking.
Great ideas about the trees and moRe so that they are replanted.
Susan, if he doesn’t pick the rv up that puts a lot on your shoulders, maybe you can find a company who will take it away without charge and maybe you can get some $$ for scrap weight unless it would be worth keeping and insuring.
Pat, not often you say you are going for a ride, enjoy
Have had quite a a morning, tell you about it later as I just sat down and eyes are heavy, need a nap.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
Good for you Susan, that would be a big undertaking
Lindakay am sure your heart is heavy this Thanksgiving, my heart goes out to you.
Dianne, are you getting these high winds and black sky?
Deb, photo of the pups please, Sharon’s pups are late, she is starting to fret although vet told her all ok.
This morning somehow after shopping my cat got locked, it’s the one that you must step on brake and press a button to start and was told if keys were in car it would chime to remind me to take out and i would never lock them in, not so, did this morning.
Called the dealer from Walmart customer service desk, they gave me roadside assistance, talked to the agent for 10 minutes and still got nowhere, finally a woman, I’d have given her 65-70 at best told me not to worry, she would drive me home to get my spare keys, turned out she is 80.we had a lovely chat, she was my today’s earthly Angel.
Got home, put groceries away, unboxed new microwave and out old one out for the dump then had my nap, did dream that Aunt Muriel had passed away, went through all the funeral arrangements etc.all so real, now it’s time for Ari c9me, sure would rather go to bed.
How about you all, almost ready for you Thanksgiving meal.
Waiting on family members and friends to dhow up. We will be eating in about 30 minutes
Got home from bowling to find my Chrisco hamper (4 boxes) on my deck. Divvied up a lot to go to the hamper we raffle off at our Senior's Christmas party/dinner on Dec 10th. I started thinking "why give 3 boxes & only keep 1 box for myself?" That's about $300 worth that I paid for over the course of a year (3 boxes). So, I started taking some out & giving it back to ME lol I don't need 2 turkeys so I put one in, and kept a lot of boxes of cookies, cookie mix & cake mix. I do a lot of baking for our groups throughout the year. I also kept a strawberry cheesecake (frozen). Lots of pasta & sauce that I don't need will go in the raffle box. I think next year I'll get a different hamper. There are a LOT of hamper choices, so maybe I'll get one that has more meat & baked goods. I don't eat cereal, after all, and it's not the kind I can use in baking so it would be a waste. Yup, I should be a little more selfish in things I paid for. lol

Susan, I am unfamiliar with the "hamper" idea.
Betty, my car will NOT lock with the keys in, trust me, I have "tried" that. I am grateful you found an angel to help you get home.
Sharon, we will be closely monitoring the house. We do know "pending" sales are like engagements. 50% of all engagements do NOT result in marriage! I don't know what the house stats are! I jsut tell myself "there are other wonderful houses out there" and we will find one.
Enjoy your family dinner Linda. Ours will be Saturday.
My "drive" was really just a trip to scout out several houses Marie & I had thought we might be interested in. I drove by several and came home and took a nap.
Afternoon,
Hope all your eats went well and a nice nap afterwards. The minute my dad had Thanksgiving Dinner and Christmas Dinner first place he would head for is the couch.
You’ve done the hampers for quite a few years Susan haven’t you? Yep, best look after yourself for that many hampers it would cost quite 1 bit per month right but so handy at Christmas when families can really use it. Not sure we have this in Ontario, will go see online?
Sharon is waiting for 3rd puppy to be born, the 2 born are female. I will get a picture for you all once 3rd is born.
I was in Orillia at 7am thismorning to buy all the pillows I needed for the children’s Christmas craft and home by eight. Marie dropped in with Chinese food for me awhile ago, now that I’ve eaten i could so easily fall asleep.
Snow warning is on, just started here.
Hope Dianne it misses you
We all had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal with my daughter in law and family. We ate about 7:30. After we cleaned up we were in bed by 9:30.
Can't wait to see what you do with the pillows.
Had a nice Thanksgiving with my SIL and two GS's. They did a good job. Only thing missing was their mother home made bread. Today was a cold one for us. We didn't get out of the 50's. Going to freeze tomorrow night so I need to get some of my tender succulents protected. I have tomato plants with tomatoes on them that are just about ripe but they will not make it through the freeze. I will go tomorrow and pick them and try to ripen them in the house. My SIL and one GS came over and they trimmed a large branch off my fig tree that had gotten to close to the roof and with the bad wind storm a week ago Sunday, I was afraid it was going to damage the roof. Well SIL brought over his chainsaw and it made quick work of it but we didn't realize how big it was. It took two of them to get it off the roof. Open up a large area near the house but caused no harm.
Linda, I am so pleased you had a nice Thanksgiving dinner.
Betty, I am so curious what you are going to do with those pillows. Great news on the two girls and one boy. So sorry about your Aunt Muriel.
Susan, you will have to explain to me what a hamper is. Two more days left for Bob.
I bought two turkeys when they first came out because I like 9 to 10 lb turkeys and they didn't have many but I got my two. Later in the winter I will cook them for Sunday dinner. That will give us food for the week. Boy on Instagram they had a waffle iron trick. Layer of stuffing, cranberries, turkey, gravy, an another layer of dressing and cook in the waffle iron. Boy it looked good.
I am going to try to find myself a movie to watch on Netflix. Hugs to you all.
Morning, just daybreak and Ziggy wants out, told him he could go out once I finished drinking my coffee so i am just sipping. It’s cold out there with high wind so likely he will go out of the door and come right back in.
Oops started this message and didn’t press send.
Kids were here today, wearing a bra kills me lol
Suzanne dropped in on her way to town this morning and we planned on going out for supper, she and one of her granddaughters will be here shortly to pick me up, going for fish and chips, think she has forgotten I don’t really like fish but the restaurant she chose likely has other types of food
Gab later
The hamper is from Chrisco Canada, and I've been doing it for 15 years. I have auto-withdrawal every week, and I choose what I want. Last year I decided to take what I don't eat (pasta, mostly, an extra turkey & other "fixings" for Christmas) and when I received the hamper I took a bunch of it and donated it to our Senior centre, for the Christmas dinner's raffle. It made about $250. I consider it a "draw" for people to attend the dinner, and also to get them to join our Society. Next year I'm going to change the hamper I order, so I can make more use of it for myself. Totally, it's worth over $500 spread out over the year. I'm going to be a bit more canny with my funds.
I got a call from the RCMP saying that Bob wanted to pick up his stuff either Sunday or Monday. They said he had a car (they weren't sure what the vehicle was), and was going to pick it up himself - HA, it would take him hours by himself, and a moving van & a tow truck, with a helper. He figured he'd inflate the tire & drive it out. The RCMP know that there's no driver's seat installed & told him so. They told me that there's no way he'll be able to get the stuff tomorrow Also told him this was a one-time thing that they'd attend & he can't come without them attending. Anyway, they said I should go about my day & they'd see about Monday (maybe). After that, I can have it towed away & dispose of the other stuff. I have a splitting headache & I've been clenching my jaw - it's sore. They aren't too impressed with him, and said if they have to leave on an emergency call he'll have to go because they won't leave me alone with him, that I shouldn't be worried about that.
Glad that everyone in the US had a good Thanksgiving day with family :)

Very interesting way to plan ahead for eats at Christmas Susan. Am sure it would be of great value for big families but for 1 would you still suggest it?
If. Only Bob would get his stuff go the land and you can put this behind you.
Not a wonder you have a headaches, stress can sicken body and mind.
They were calling for a snow storm today but must have blown 8n a different direction, hurrah for us. Young Mason cam to sew this morning, i thought after having his finger under the needle last week he would give up sewing but nope he is sticking to it.
He left at 11, got back in my jammies and had a nap.
Didn’t have to cook today, food was terrible from the little cafe we ate at last night but we took our meals home saying we didn’t have an appetite, so ate what was left today. Next time I will let Suzanne pick.lol
Are you all tired out i after your Thanksgiving festivities?
Betty - are you still getting night sweats?
Chrisco Canada hampers are just for one meal - I can eat for a month plus on it. Two turkeys, several bags of potato wedges, 2 boxes of hamburger patties, cake mixes & frosting, several bags of frozen veggies, etc etc etc. Yes, there are things for Christmas dinner, but you could also get hampers for summer BBQs, pantry fillers, household items, etc. Check out https://www.chriscohampers.ca/
Not a sales pitch, but if you check it out & like it, you could sign up for it with me, and we'd both get $50 off the next order. As I said, I've been getting them for 15 years.
This message was edited Nov 26, 2023 7:33 PM
Obviously if you have been ordering for 15 years Susan, YOU think it's worth it!
Betty, How are Sharon's puppies doing?
Linda, how is it going with the listing of your house? Is the realtor giving you any feedback?
The painter is still here. Gosh I hope he finishes up TONIGHT but somehow, I doubt it. He'll have all the doors to put back on too.
Marie & I saw a new listing for a house with 36 x 48 shop & 2 car garage, 2400 SF, 4 bedroom & 2.5 bathrooms. The shop is plumbed for a bathroom.... I have asked our realtor to get us in to see it ASAP. Once we are done cleaning here, Stanley & I are moving to Marie's. I can't keep the floors "cat litter free" no matter how hard I try and we need this house SOLD.
Good early morning everyone. It is raining.
Pat PBS from your state provided me with both a Sat. and Sun concert. I always smile and wonder if you are watching too. Then I remember you are running around like a whirling dervish trying to get everything done to be ready to move.
My Chaos is not doing too well. I am just trying to keep him comfortable. He sleeps most of the time but is always up for a walk.
Deb I watched part of The National Dog Show this weekend. The afghan in the final was gorgeous. The Great Dane was huge and stunning to watch.
Ordered 2 Christmas presents - a Friddle. I have had 2 over the years and used them till they died.
Betty how are you feeling this morning?
Stay safe and well.
We have not been in contact with a realtor yet. Need to find time and make an appointment to get it listed.
Pat, I hope you can get that house. Sounds like a beautiful home.
Dianne, sorry to hear about chaos. Praying he is feeling better soon.
We are still dirting, folding fabric here. Most of it will be going in the back yard storage unit, basic colors will stay in the house. In the process of re arranging sewing room, to make room.
21 degrees this morning. I am not used to these cold temps. It gets up to maybe 50 during the day.

Afternoon everyone,
We had a blizzard going on earlier but it’s died down but they are calling for 4-6” of snow overnight and tomorrow. That time of year I guess and it’s great news about it missing Dianne’s area.
Dianne sorry to hear about Chaos, is this the result of that cyst? How old would he be, seems like yesterday you brought him home, would it be 6-7 years old? What is a f riddle? If you’ve bought it before and now rebuking it must be good. Is PBS on Roger’s?
i hear the excitement in your post Pat, the house you speak of sounds like everything you’ve been searching for, would the garage in the back serve as you craft area?
Susan, i will look at the site when a get a minute.
Did Bob come yet, of course there is a time zone so likely too early as yet, saying a prayer all his things will be GONE by tonight.
Debbie, how did the episode go with the gentleman that said he was concerned about the overbite? Did he grow out of it?
This morning I didn’t get out of bed until 7:30am which is sleeping in for me. Put Steele oats in 2 more froggie, cut 5” squares out for a throw Sharon wants to make but didn’t have fabric for, told her I cut out all she needs for it and that along with a few other thinks would be her Christmas box as she is hard to buy for.showed her the different squares, don’t think it’s up to her liking, so maybe I will have to make it lol
Got a message from a woman who is President of a Quilting group, she said they are holding a fabric swap beginning of January and wanted to know if there was any fabric left would I want it, sure would as the kids are sewing up a storm.
Drats, iPad keeps putting an 8 when ever I type an “i”, my iPad downstairs does same so it must mean I am touching the key where aI shouldn’t.
She just messaged me, she is on the way to the vets, something about claws. She sent me photo’s for you, they certainly at this age look nothing like American Eskimo’s.
Is there really Lindakay that much difference in temps than what you are used to in Del Rio? Fun I am sure going through all that fabric and deciding which will remain inside,is this unusual, a rare cold front? They say our storm is coming from Colorado, wish they would keep it.
Grayson enjoying decorating the Christmas tree the went and cut down yesterday.
Parents sent me lovely thank you’s re their sons projects
The projects look great and the boys look so proud!
how lovely, Betty, for them to give you such wonderful Thank You's :)
Pat - keeping you in my prayers re: a new home for both of you.
Linda - hoping you find the time. That will be one more thing off your "to do" list.
Dianne - I can remember when you got Chaos. Lots of years ago. So sorry to hear that he's not doing well.
I just had a tech person walk me through watching DVDs on my monitor. I could watch Netflix & VHS, but for the life of me couldn't watch DVDs and I have a lot more of them than VHS.
I hope to get my Christmas stuff out of storage & start putting it up, maybe Wed or Thurs morning. Today I'm making Japche (Korean meat dish) for the Wellness Christmas potluck
Dew claws are frequently removed in some breeds. If they are removed when the puppies are only a few days old, it's no big deal.... AFTER/ Later much more painful etc. There are hunters that will NOT buy a dog if it has not had the dew claws removed. They don't want the dog catching it in the brush and injuring the leg.
Susan, good for you with the whole technology thing!
Diane, sending prayers for Chaos.
Linda, I would take 50!!! Forecast here is the temperature will not get above 35 ALL week.
The house was nice, it was NOT stellar but it did meet more of our needs with less need for remodeling or building than other houses we have looked at. I did not realize that I needed to give my realtor 2 weeks lead time for the photos. I am really disappointed. I thought if I got everything done, we could have this listed on Friday. NOPE.
That is the pitz Pat, oh well, gives you a bit more time to get last items done.
Thanks for explaining the dew claws, think it might be requirement in show gods, not sure on that, likely Deb would know.
Wind is up and it’s storming
Susan that is a rare dish is it not? Is there a lot of Hungarians in your region? Not sure why I’m think8mg that, had some neighbours when we were at the lake and think he told me many of his relatives moved to your area.
Vanessa just left, Greg called to apologize he hadn’t called earlier in the day but wanted me to know he thought of me today, i thanked him but DID NOT tell h8m I forgot it would have been my 58th wedding anniversary. It completely did not come to m8nd, don’t know how many times I saw 27th and it never came to me, think because November came so quickly that I didn’t think about it which I always do..feeling bad, something I should never have forgotten.
Betty - it's a dish for celebration. As it's for our Wellness Christmas dinner, I'm considering it as such. Don't beat yourself up about forgetting, Betty. It happens to the best of us, for very memorable days.
Speaking of which, I should phone my brother & wish him a Happy Birthday.
Temps in Del Rio dropped to maybe 32 fir a few days. Never saw any Temps in the 20s.
Birthday greetings to your brother. Wish your daughter would treat you to a plane ride so you could spend Christmas with her, after being with so much stress it would be nice so nice for you.
Lindakay bet Michigan isn’t much colder, yikes that is cold. So after looking through all that fabric what will be your first quilt? What have you done with all the quilts you made the last few years?
I got 2 frogs done today and cut out to squares for another so was productive.
Just shut off my Christmas tree, don’t want the motor to cease, back in bed. Slept for a few hours and had nightmares so now I am fighting sleep. A winter wonderland out there, so still, hope winds don’t come up.
Morning everyone, sun is shining, bitter cold
I tried out my new snowblower, seems to do what i wanted it to, just have to learn a bit about direction of where the snow blows to, Jules the plowman came just as Marie and I were cleaning up where he can’t get to.
Bernie was suppose to leave for Florida’s today with his rv for the winter, i kept telling him to get out before snow fall but he didn’t listen to big sister, now he is down at bottom of a high hill and can’t get out.
Pat isn’t coming this morning because if we get squalls she wouldn’t be able to drive home without fretting, june who lives in town here says she will come and finish her project, the bowl warmers so best I get my breakfast and get productive today.
I haven't figured out what I will do first. I have 5 finished quilts, 6 tops to be quilted.
Misty, my daughter in law and I have decided, that since we got so much fabric for what we paid, we are going to make and donate lap quilts for the church, and possibly nursing homes.
That would be marvellous Lindakay, glad your daughter in-law is interested in sewing.
Sharon’s daughter Nikki dropped in to get the baby monitor of hers I was using so she can listen to the puppies and send me white snowflake fabric that will do for the blocks I cut up yesterday.
I played and got the top part of 3 frogs done, bottom Iuse double layer flannel so i will finish those off tomorrow.
Body hasn’t warmed up since I did the snow this morning, I have nobody coming tonight so I Iwill have a hot bath, supper is ready then sew pads on hands and arms of Grayson’s teddy
Blood specialist secretary called to remind me of Thursday 9:30am appointment, i mentioned that if weather is predicted as stormy I’d call tomorrow afternoon to cancel.
Worked yesterday and today finishing off one section of the front landscape for winter clean-up. I have a hair appointment tomorrow so I will spread chicken manure Thursday and also some fresh mulching soil. That area is where the strawberries are and that is most important part of landscape because that is where the great grandchildren go for fresh strawberries. My daughter is still in Phoenix helping out with new GGS. Daddy gets 3 weeks maternity leave starting December 1. So then Tracy will come home because her youngest son is returning from his church mission (2 years) on December 15 and we always go to the airport and welcome them home and then have a big family dinner.
Better, your photos of the children are precious. And the thank you letters are special. And a lot of dogs have that extra toe removed.
Diane, so sorry about your pup not feeling well. Maybe he just has the time change winter blues. I know I did.
Susan, another function. You are just one busy lady. I have an apple laptop and I had to get an attachment to watch DVD's on it. The older ones used to have a slot on the side but not anymore. Just another accessory to buy.
Pat, look at everything you are learning about selling your home. You will be an expert by the time it is ready for Marie's. The photographers are the problem. They are very busy. You just have to keep thinking there is a reason for all of this. And just go forward smiling. Telling yourself, soon this will be over and it will be Spring of 2024 and all the flowers will be blooming again. .
My credit card got hit yesterday. Two hits before the bank's algorithm notified the bank something was fishy. They charged $450 to U Haul, $783 to a men's and women's clothing store and the last one which they stopped was IKEA for $823.
I do not have to worry about paying it but I have lost my main credit card for 5 to 7 days. I have it tied to many bills that are paid automatically. Such a pain.
It is time for me to get into the shower and wash off the dust from today. You all have a wonderful day tomorrow. .
The photography for the house ad is scheduled for next Thursday. I will keep after a few projects. I am hoping it will warm up enough to finish painting the patio gate etc. It has to be above 35.F.
I met with the Medicare specialist to help check out coverage, make sure what I have is still the best plain for me. I shopped for decorative storage bins but did not find anything I wanted. Came home & went back to touch up painting. Marie came and we assembled the 3 trellises. I am going to be sore tomorrow from using pressure to seat the PVC of the trellises together. If Sharon comes tomorrow, I hope to get them installed. When they are in place, I'll take pictures.
I need to buy Welcome mats for all the entries and a few other things. I wish I knew whether it would help or hurt house sales to put up my Christmas tree.
Sharon, I keep telling myself the delay is for my benefit. I don't know why, but I trust it is & maybe I will even figure out why when the time comes. Where did your grandson serve his mission?
