I've just come back to DG after a long absence. I have a new project though. The area that used to be my shade garden is now full sun thanks to my neighbor cutting down 2 trees that were on the property line.
My shade garden was really just half the length of the area. So nothing has ever been done to improve the hard packed red GA clay of the other half. I am no longer physically or financially able to do the work of adding amendments myself or hiring someone to do it.
Does anyone have any personal experience with ClayMend?
Whether I use it or not, I am going to spread seed for Daikon radishes this fall and then sunflowers in the Spring to aerate and break up the clay. When I plant, I'll choose plants that can grow in clay. Might experiment with some lasagna gardening as well.
