I have several plumeria that I will be pruning when appropriate and was wondering if splitting the pruned branch with 3 longitudinal slices will result in more than the usual 2 branches I get when pruned. I recently saw this example while on vacation and loved the way it looked.
Plumeria pruning
I wish I had some 1st hand knowledge but I do not. There used to be a so knowledgeable gal on here, Clare_CA, who taunted me with her successes with them. She had so many unbelievable ones that she posted on PlantFiles. But alas, no matter how many I bought, they either rotted or failed to leaf out.
Clare had me sending mine to Florida Colors to be grafted onto better root stock as a last ditch effort to grow them. But then I just had more expensive garbage. LOL I finally gave up.
I did look it up just to learn too. I hope this article gives you some pointers.
"Picking the proper location to trim is very important so you do not over or under trim the tree. If your tree is long and lanky and you want it to take on a fuller look, trim tall branches. Simply make a cut to remove the top branches. Only remove what you have too; don’t overdo it. Trimming the top off will encourage new branches to form on the side of the tree. Take a large branch that has three of four other branches protruding from it. Make the cut about 1 foot (31 cm.) above the branching point. Don’t just trim for looks, trim for the health of the tree as well.

Thanks for the info. After pruning in the Fall, I'll post photos with exactly what I did and the results.
