I have a row of Carolina Cherry Laurels for privacy. The deer love to eat them and mowed down the bottom third of the bushes, causing us to lose our privacy. I put up a deer proof fence around them, now I need to get them to fill out. How much should I cut off the top to encourage growth on the bottom? Last year I trimmed the tops a bit, like 6-8 inches, but it didn’t seem to help them fill out much, they just grew more on the top. They are about 7’ tall. Thanks!
